Education store still shows 1-3 days even if customized. Regular store 1-3 or 2-4

Refurb models change in amount of selections

Just thought we should have a place to gather all the info on slipping iMac shipping dates. It might be tomorrow (1. may) or much later, but lets keep updating this thread when we notice changes:) But lets keep talk about specifications and anything else not related to shipping dates off this thread.

I have noticed online at pcworld.co.uk (part of the Dixons group) have 10% off all macs until midnight tonight (BST).

Still all in stock for home delivery? But collect at store stock is tight from the places i've checked.

Well it seems like

1. as usual, Apple US and US retailers in the US still have shortest delay / most stock

2. Many foriegn places are running dry

3. Apples BTO delays remain for iMac, not a brief oops

4. Mbp BTO is at normal shipping times

5. IMO stock will not fully or near fully dwindle in US due to people waiting

6. lack of rumors or offical shortage posts means likely not this week. But if this continues then next two weeks are gold

* if i go to bestbuys and other such places soon i will post what i see

US Apple Store, Best Buy, & Amazon all look the same to me as before. All base models in stock, Apple Store BTOs are 2-4 for swapping the HDD, 1-3 otherwise.

For an additional US data point, I checked J&R. All base models in stock. They also offer 2 custom models - 27" with SSD (on order, no delivery date) and 21.5" with 2 TB HDD (out of stock).

How has Apple updated products in the past, do the usually wait until most of the stock is gone, or is the shortage of stock merely a consequence of their usual plan/procedure? Does the remaining stock affect when they choose to release?

On Apple, if you add 16GB RAM that also adds 2-4 days, and anything more than the stock 1TB HDD

It isn't Apple-like to hold back new product because old product is in the channel. More often, they will simply stop filling reorders when the new product is near ready.

Store Pick Ups

I dont know if store pick up dates are relevant to this thread, but in my area all stores show all BTO iMacs as being available on May 17th. However, all stock configurations are in stock, which would make sense.

I think this one is a little tricky because people are realizings its been over a year now since update. Apple won't wait until almost each individual piece is sold because that won't happen, and two thats where those old models get discounted after refresh. There has been no major rumors of design change, i.e. G4 iMac to current design like.. all that may happen is thinner and cosmetics for the chin and anti glare glass. Thus silent refresh. Retina is out of the question for 27" , dang yeah not now. So WWDC would be meaningless unless I'm missing something. After Mothers Day, the 15th or 22nd. Unless Apple feels like boosting mothers day by releasing this week

That makes sense, tomorrow seems unlikely. But after mothers day, May 15th tues or even 16th wed to release, then the store gets some by thursday

stocks base configs will remain everywhere almost even after the refresh so

Bingo. Every store within 50 miles of me (which probably covers a few stores near to you, come to think of it) is showing May 17 for any BTO ship-to-store. This points strongly to May 15 refresh. Happy Diablo Day.

My top 3 are the Lehigh Valley Store, Rockaway and Bridgewater.. haha
And I agree, hopefully good times to come.. BUT I have to wait til I get the new iMac to play D3. Check my signature, it wont play on that :(

Exactly, due to this I think that the release will happen sooner than is usually predicted by stock, perhaps when we least expect it, but May 15 does seem likely at this point!

Hehe, same for me, the iMac release date has turned into "how many days will I have to wait until I can play D3 with better settings than everything on lowest and 800x600" - I can run it, but it's a dismal experience.

MacMall also appears to be short a couple of models.

I just went on MacMall to see what you mean, and I tried custom building an 27" iMac, and the shipping delay for more RAM, changed HDD or SSD combo and or AMD card bumps to 5-7 days

*interesting to note is their 6day Macbook pro sale ends today too.

I work across the street from that Bridgewater store :) But home is closer to Freehold & Menlo Park stores. I checked as far away as upstate NY.

.. Good god man. Need a new hamster to power that thing?

My closest store is Schaumburg Woodfield Mall,

When I custom order my 27" iMac it shows 2-4 shipping, then delivery May 15-17th at home & May 18th as in store pickup.

Hope stockage and rumors keep up this week, my original long time guess of may 8th/9th or 15th/16th is still alive

what is still odd is why the education store has normal ship times.

All shipping times bar the mac pro seem to have gone back to normal on the Apple UK online store.

Looks like BTO just changed to 4 days shipping in alot of countries, just checked the apple store in a few countries.

Something like that. It gets the job done for personal uses, web and email. If I have to use some more intensive programs, I steal one of my father's 2011 Mac Mini's he got recently for his business, but hasnt had time to set up. But games are a no-no on his machines.. :p:cool:

Got that Mac Mini when I was 15 working my first summer job. Its a 1st Gen. Have had it since. Been meaning to upgrade, but it's not a livelihood for me so I simply passed on a few models. But now.... oh boy do I wish I upgraded somewhere along the lines.. :D

And now I wait..
