I still don't get that somehow in the last week it's been decided that WWDC is "THE big HARDWARE unveiling event", could anyone shed some light on this? From what I gather hardware announcements during past WWDC's has been brief and not the focus of the event?

You're right. Everyone should watch some of the videos from last WWDC. Most of them are presentations, where the announcer explains things, such as in the new version of X-Code, when prototyping your methods in your class's header files, it is no longer necessary to explicitly define iVars in your @implementation section. Then the group of developers clap and cheer a little bit.

I´m almost certain it will not be tomorrow. If they are in fact introducing a retina display supported machine as the macbook pro, they are certainly not releasing an iMac without it....that would just be silly - as its obviously an transition apple will go though with their machines.

Nonsense. They can't introduce 13" and 15" Retina if 21" and 27" aren't ready? Next year makes far more sense for iMac Retina.

Usually the UK online store is a good sign, and I am afraid to say that at 08.00 (BST) there were no signs of the store being down. So we move on to the 29th then...

A bit premature ...

The UK store doesn't go down til about noon UK time when it gets updated with new releases so there are another 3 and a half hours until we'll know for sure that today isn't the day.

Not that I think it is.

funny how people still expect an update today. I have never experienced Apple having an update without at least some product numbers leaked the day before.

let's hope I must eat my words, but I highly doubt it.

True - the Mac communinty equivalent of "It ain't over til the fat lady sings" must be "No hw refreshes til Mr X posts the new product numbers".

Not that I'm casting any aspersions on the girth of the mysterious Mr X ...

I think we all need to take a step back and look for a second.

There are 52 weeks in the year = 52 Tuesday's a year.
Christmas Day this year falls on Tuesday.
Apple will not release an iMac on Christmas Day.
We're down to 51, but I have OCD so we're going to say 50.

The weather in the UK today is double 10 degrees celcius, which is 50 fahrenheit.

Taking all the above into account, we can all agree that we will definitely see an iMac on one of 50 Tuesdays (going through to 2013) but if the weather is 50 fahrenheit then the iMac release could fall on a Friday. Or a Saturday.

Exactly! We need two surrealists for this: One to paint the room purple and the other to fill the bathtub up with jello. Let's get this done!

It feels like we should be 2 weeks from WWDC. Not 3. Wonder why Apple usually goes for later vs sooner. Last year was a week earlier

This year is "Cook" time so i suppose something will change,
Jobs is unreplaceable and wlll always be..
but Tim has the hard duty to not make feel Apple less..Apple
....so a Wwdc with Ios6 preview,MLion and new Macs (Imac,MacBookPro and may Maybe Mac mini )
probably would make it feel all very rich
and in line with (our) Apple expectations..
don't you think?

ps.
then don't forget the Autumn fight between Windows8 and Mountain Lion..
which is incoming^^

Anyone else think Apple are ready to sell new iMacs but want to run down existing stock levels before selling. The hold up on launching them is down to people not buying current models?

No, not at all. Apple releases products when they're ready. Maximizing short term profit results in long term loss.

Rubbish.

Apple releases products when it (Apple) is ready.

It would be insane to release a new product if the existing supply chain is stuffed full of old stock. Equally it would be insane to wait so long that they new product is already not that new and exciting. So it's a balance. The timing of new product introductions is one of the core competences of high tech businesses with the typically very short product life cycles. Getting this right - or wrong - can mean the difference between profit and loss.

It's certainly not just a case of "it's ready, so here it is then". Give them just a little respect!

EDIT: And by the way, I say the above based my career involved in selling supply chain management and optimisation software to various industries including High Tech.

I wonder if people actually realise how long Tim Cook has been at Apple and working at streamlining how they do things, especially on the supply chain side. He has also been running the company day-to-day from the time Steve Jobs' sickness prevented him from working. It's not like they've left the company in the hands of the janitor.

BTO Shipping time for iMac in Canadian apple store just flipped to 3-5 days!! Something imminent is about to happen! :)

Mexico Canada BTO have 2-4 3-5 4-6 day shipping

US store has 1-3/ 2-4 days pending on what you do
