Amen to that. Wish I knew of it's existence before it got pulled, it looks really really useful. Typical Apple! Won't hold my breath for them to reintroduce it :(

This is the first that I'd ever heard of it. What did it do, and what did it do better than the others, and, well, what got it spanked by Apple?

... lets you launch your favourite apps from the notification pulldown screen. seems extremely convenient. as for why they 'spanked' it, only Apple knows I guess... but probably because they didn't think of it first!

I'll keep comments here for now: Has anyone broken the ability to install apps from the app store on another phone?

What I mean is the .ipa file. Is it sheathed in black ice to keep it from being installed on another person's iDevice? There has to be a way to shim the system so that it can be done. I mean, without jail breaking... I seriously doubt that Apple maintains a list of what apps are installed on everyone's iDevice on some server somewhere... It would seem to me that the first person to break that would be a god... Until Apple fixes it, but making them have to move the cheese repeatedly could be fun.

Apps are associated with Apple IDs so Apple certainly keeps track on some level. The only way to install by bypassing things is through some cracking and jailbreaking or by using a developer certificate which would allow people to install thaf cettificate and apps associated with it without the use of the App Store.
