im experiencing a seriously annoying issue regarding themes, and would appreciate some help.

for some reason, no icons (besides winterboard, bytafont, few others) seem to be changing whenever i apply themes. I've attempted to use many different themes (blackness, suave, iflat, etc), activated/deactivated summerboard mode, and reinstalled winterboard...

winterboard: Y U NO LIKE ICONS?

Open up the theme folder

inside Bundles> com.apple.AppStore> make sure the icons is name 'icon-72.png'

on the iphone 4, it named 'icon@2x.png'

..if it still does not work. re-JB it.

thank you. got it working. thanks again

Check out the "Iphone clock app on ipad2" thread in this forum to add the missing iphone apps:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1183688/

Another resource is www.pepper.net repository, add as a source in cydia. You can install these apps as well as the compass app from here.

After you have the weather app installed, go to cydia and d/l weathericon, set it up as you would on the iphone. Same goes for liveclock after the clock app is installed.

Installed BlackHaz3, so far I'm liking it a lot.

what lockscreen is that?
looks great!

Breeze for iPad (the alt version)--either available on the MacThemes website or released through Cydia. Love the wallpaper used though--that's not included with the theme.

I had a couple questions for you bright folks who like to tinker .

I have a iPad 2 32gb on Verizon 3g and i want to play around with some of the
Winterboard themes etc.

What i want to know is can i just uninstall this stuff if i dont care for it without having to restore the iPad ?

If i have to restore the iPad can i just run the restore from the settings page (that is if i dont damage the OS so bad it wont boot)?

I am just trying to more or less prepare for a worst case scenario and i do know Tiny Umbrella should be able to get me back to 4.3.3 if i mess everything up but the way i read the comments about the last release is that TU will only work for a short time ?.

I know these are rather noobish questions but i do know alot of you guys have probably run into issues before and what the next step might be .

Thank you.

^cubian, I still have not figure out how to make the widget rotate on SB.

some new theme. port from Iphone.

..I releases some on dbarEvolution.co.cc

heyisti that is a very nice theme do you have a link to it?

Also I'm using the breeze hd and replaced the background with something I choose. I got the wallpaper to show up on the lockscreen but it is out of proportion. I tried changing it to the dimensions of 1024x1024 like the bg used from the original theme but it won't allow me to. What programs are you guys using to resize backgrounds? Should i keep it at 1024x1024 or are other dimensions suitable?

thanks

This looks sweet! What theme is it?

Glasklart HD--though the info.plist should be modded to fix the numbers on the calendar, and the AppIcon mask is causing the one icon to show with a black background. Check out the thread on MacThemes for more info on how to set this one up--it's a terrific theme, using it on my phone today, in fact!

You can use most photo editors to resize images downwards--trying to scale them up generally produces very poor results. 1024x1024 is the standard for the iPad; larger will cut off too much of the image and smaller will stretch to the point of being badly pixelated.

If you need a free editor, there are a number of them on the web, and even some in the app store, if I recall. For my own work, I use Photoshop (CS 4, I think) on the Mac and Filterstorm on the iPad; they're nice for substantial editing, but both are overkill for something as simple as resizing/cropping.

For the most part, yes you can. Winterboard allows you to select/deselect themes you want active. Or, you can uninstall the theme via Cydia (assuming you installed the theme from Cydia). I would recommend sticking with themes specifically created for the iPad until you get the hang of it.

If i have to restore the iPad can i just run the restore from the settings page (that is if i dont damage the OS so bad it wont boot)?

I'm thinking here you are referring to the "Reset" options in settings. I've never tried using those features, but I suspect these resets wouldn't work. They were designed by the Apple guys and not with problems caused by jailbreaking in mind. That said, I think you would be very safe applying some themes designed for the iPad (I only say this b/c some other themes could cause unexpected, although probably harmless effects). If you did run into problems, people here would help you. If it really came down to hosing your iPad (remote chance), you would end up having to do a system RESTORE from iTunes and overwrite the iPad with a fresh OS.

If you have your 4.3.3 blobs saved, you are in good shape. In fact, if you already have Cydia installed, a copy of your 4.3.3 blobs should already be backed up by Cydia (open Cydia, check the top of the screen, where it says "SHSH:" in green). It is my understanding the function of Tiny Umbrella may not be compatible with iOS 5.0 and beyond. But, you will always be able to go back to 4.3.3 with Tiny Umbrella.

If you get into any trouble, just post here. You can also PM me directly if you like. But, I think you will be fine.

Thanks falstaffpac for responding.

It does not sound like Winterboard should be much of a risk as long as i stick to iPad only stuff of which i will now you mentioned it.

I was not sure even with my 4.3.3 blobs saved for my machine that Tiny Umbrella was going to be able to work in the future based on the creators comments as he/she said it will only work as long as Apple is still signing the FW and use it while you can like its a gallon of milk in the fridge thats going to spoil .

Thanks again for taking the time .
