I can't make system files display, when I search using spotlight in finder.

Furthermore, I can't turn off "icon preview," for the entire system only folders.

Both big gripes for me. :(

My biggest gripe about Leopard is that, as with any new Apple product, its launch brings out so much whingeing and complaining.

what do you expect. we're apple users we expect the best, and frankly improvement only comes with criticism. It part of the territory. apple is a company that thinks of the user more than say microsoft. So when they think of something and take it 90% of the way and not the other 10, obviously ppl are going to be like wtf?

1) Leopard Front Row sorts my TV shows in reverse chronological order (I know there has to be an easy way to fix this, but I can't find it). Tiger did it correctly.

2) For some reason every time I turn off/sleep/turn screen off the buttons on my Mighty Mouse reset and I have to go back to system preferences to change them back.

3) I keep losing my wireless signal on both my Powerbook and iMac. It's not a problem with my Airport Express, I simply shut off the Airport on my computers and then start it back up and it works again.

Maybe just me again but I can't drag files onto dock application icons to open the file with that application. Anyone else getting this?

anyone else having a horrible time with ichat video conferencing? the backdrops look awful. they worked beautifully in the demo though.... what a concept.

Yeah my 2.1Ghz G5 iMac doesn't even support them ! Ouch

I'm simply going to save my money. I think Leopard is a mistake, and Tiger is all Apple needed. What's wrong with Tiger anyways? Why not make Tiger even more stable and improve upon it instead of introducing something far different?

photoshop 7 & Leopard

Whoshnot,

Same problem here. I hope this can be fixed or someone out there can give some advice.

By the way, we all new what Leopard was, why complain?

Nope, works fine for me.

One gripe I have so far, is the PhotoBooth backdrops don't seem to work very well, in fact they're next to useless. Shame, I was really looking forward to them.

One other issue I've encountered is that Last.FM doesn't seem to work. It crashes, and then another instance opens in the dock (it's set to open in the menu bar).

On my 2Gb Intel Mini any animation e.g. apps opening or minimizing windows is very very crappy. i.e. quarter second lag from pressing the minimize button....then the window minimizes very choppily !

Leopard

I have a year old Macbook 1gig, 80 gig hard drive. Everything works well with Leopard and fast. Spotlight works like it has always. As stated earlier, photoshop 7 is DEAD.

I have no need to upgrade, it has worked very well for me since having it on this intel mac. As a photojournalist, it's perfect for me. Seeing I am not manipulating photos.

Actually no. I just don't want it in the searches. The results I get in the Spotlight menu are always history first rather than static bookmarks, which is exactly what I don't want.

Now that Apple has wrecked the Spotlight interface I really have to get rid of the history results coming up and cluttering everything.

You can exclude the web history from your spotlight searches...just go to preferences>spotlight>search results>uncheck webpages....i think some people might just like to hear themselves rant.....

I'm not sure if this is Leopard or iphoto but when you try to import pictures into iphoto the coverflow option for browsing files doesn't exist. This seems like a major lapse on Apple's part because importing pictures is the one and only place where coverflow should definitely be enabled so you can see what the hell you're importing easily. Is it just me or is that a major problem?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3A109a Safari/419.3)

I really just want an option to use the 3D Dock on the side of the screen.

Some of the new stuff is tough to get used to, but I give Leopard a B+ or so.

Yea I have the same G5 u have but its the 17 inch 1.9 Ghz model.

Can you believe that apple actually did this to us? lol
However, in Tiger, when some people couldnt do multi video chats, Ecamm came along with the PowerBoost program. I hope they invent another fix.

EDIT: Anyone else have a hack/fix for us???

Took forever for my MAC to pick up my WIFI network and accept the WPA password... thought it was never going to detect it !!

My Photoshop version does not work anymore:

Not a nitpick at all IMHO

Yep PS7 is dead... official/unofficial word from Adobe is that although PS7 was OSX "capable" it made ties to part of its "classic" version. Since classic is gone the app can't launch. What exactly that meant wasn't explained, I wasn't aware that any resources were shared between OSX and classic (OS9). BUT PS7 did run/install on both so there may be something to this.

Your cheapest upgrade I think is PS CS3 (not extended) for $199.
Keep in mind that you do legally get two authorizations with CS3 and two family members can use them... maybe you and a friend can "become relatives" and split the costs.

A partial solution

  • I don't like the new Spotlight results window much either. Where did the categories go, and the ability to sort within a category? It's going to make finding files much harder.

A common complaint. I personally don't mind it. For one, I've never had the need to resort inside a category so I can't really related. However, the first part is erroneous. You can easily sort the results by category (Kind) by switching the search results to List view (Command-2).

My biggest gripe about Leopard is that, as with any new Apple product, its launch brings out so much whingeing and complaining.

Actually, the fault lies with Apple. All the hype generated by Apple and picked up by the computer media folks creates expectations far beyond the reality of the new release.
