Something about the finder really bothers me.

can't tell what exactly, maybe the navigation. it just still feels not really well thought-out.

and the sidebar: i really prefered the one in tiger with the dynamic resizable icons/ fields. the little pixel icons/ buttons feel so outdated and small.

Lot's of posts complaining about the stacks feature.
I think it's important to remember that Stacks is just an organizer allowing any file to be "stacked" with any other file.
I have several pro apps that are in Applications in their own folder.
I just set up a stack with the icons to these Apps and I have a 2 click solution;
click on the stack and click on the app. I like the stacks a lot.

Not really a Leopard gripe, but a Finder gripe: no way to right-click a file and cut & paste it to a new location to easily facilitate moving it. Having to :apple:-drag the file is obnoxious.

You'd think they would have finally "upgraded" Finder to do this by now.

As someone who until fairly recently (about 6 months ago) was a Windows user, I couldn't agree more, when sorting files I really miss being able to ctrl-x (cut) and ctrl-v (paste) to in effect move files.

Another file copy gripe.

If I copy a folder to another location, and there are lots of files within the folder to be copied, why can I not look inside the destination folder and work with the files that are complete? The destination folder is completely unusable until all files inside it are copied. This isn't a Leopard thing, just an OS X thing in general.

My biggest (and only) gripe in Leopard is that I can't have the transparent menubar on my first gen iMac G5. Apparently users have found that older hardware has the transparency disabled... we are left in the dust with a static, flat opaque grey, regardless of background. :(

I didn't read the entire thread....my initial gripe: why can't I have different view options in different folders? Choosing icon, list, column, or coverflow view changes the view in all other folders...gotta change the view back manually whenever opening a folder now. I hope I'm making sense.

Stacks, Transparent Menu Bar, Folder Icons

Here are my gripes,
I hate that Stacks has actually limited the functionality of the Dock. In tiger I put my applications folder in the dock and could easily access all of my programs and submenus, not possible with Stacks. Also, you can't customize the stacks icon.

The semitransparent menu bar looks terrible if the upper portion of your desktop background is anything except a solid or nearly solid dark color

The new folder icons are boring and lame.

Just a thought....with all the bitching about upgrades to leopard....maybe Apple should simplify the upgrade process....don't let users "just upgrade", or do an "archive/install" or "clean install", just do what will cause the least amount of post-installation problems. This has to be the reason why so many are having different issues, and don't blame apple for incompatible third party applications!!!! I personally had no issues with a clean install on my imac c2d and an upgrade my girlfriends macbook c2d.

This is my one and ONLY issue with Leopard...I don't want stacks to go away, I just want the option to put the applications folder on the dock and access all the programs and submenus ala Tiger...and change the stacks icon. For me it's hardly "the end of the world" and in the big scheme of things is rather minor, but is a very nice to have...

By far, my biggest gripe:

I can't use my Airport Base Station with a disk to backup with Time Machine. I suppose that's because the disk needs to be dedicated to Time Machine. I hope there's some sort of fix to the FW of the Base Station or to Time Machine.

Other gripes:

- Program incompatibility: like insomniaX. I love that app. And StarCraft. Blizzard installer crashes.

- The freaking s***** a** Hard Drive icon. Please change it ffs.

Can't think of anything else right now. Will update if I come across anything.

No Leopard for me (yet)- someone want to post this new hard drive icon that's not so pretty?

You can exclude the web history from your spotlight searches...just go to preferences>spotlight>search results>uncheck webpages....i think some people might just like to hear themselves rant.....

Why didn't you bother reading my posts before you responded? Is that too much to ask? You don't understand what I wanted to do, and your sarcasm just makes you look like an idiot. Next time, please read before you mouth off without thinking.

As I said before, I want my bookmarks to be searchable, but I don't want the web history to be searchable. The reason for that is that opening up the (stupidly non customizable) "show all" results window invariably puts a pile of recently visited pages at the top, which I don't want in the strongest possible sense.

Unchecking the webpages item in Spotlight seems to make both non searchable, which is what I didn't want. I finally found out a way to include one and exclude the other. That is to exempt the ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/History folder from indexing. But it sucks that I had to poke around in ~/Library, since the option should be available in the UI.

So it's fixed, no thanks to your utter non -suggestion.

I don't have a transparent menubar either, and I'm using a 2nd generation macbook pro. I don't think there is one, is there?

Well, I've only been using Leopard for a few hours, but I want the old Spotlight search results window back. The new one sucks horribly. It's just a smart folder search window with no organization.

Why is the Spotlight drop down menu organized and the "show all results" window isn't?

And none of my bookmarks are showing up in Spotlight. This sucks.

Oh HOW I hate the new Spotlight....

I want to search by Size in the "name-Kind-last Opened" bar......but can't

Its a step forward and a step back at the same time

Basically, the way the menu bar has been since the introduction of the Mac back in 1984. Not having this will not affect your productivity. Many people with machines that have the capacity to provide this affect wish they could turn it off.

A couple things I don't like about Leopard:

For some reason when I switch to List View or Icon View, ALL of my folders turn to that view. Sometimes I only wanna see certain folders in List View and not all of them.

Also, when I type something in the search field from a Finder Folder, I'm used to it automatically searching that folder... now it reverts to "Computer" EVERY time. Annoying.

Another thing is. When I hit back and forward in the Finder windows, it automatically goes to the top of the list even though I've scrolled through it. Shouldn't it retain the scroll position?

Chill out dude....like I said before you choose to rant about a feature that 99% of people would appreciate....if it's such a big deal why not use firefox?
