Only photo taken very very bright conditions with shadows too. Not bad.

not super crisp.. at least from this file size.
the skies especially.
i guess 12MP is already the low limit of MPs.
More MP doesn't automatically mean better sharpness or less noise. In fact, done the wrong/easy way, that's exactly what happens: worse IQ.

The 6s Plus camera in ideal conditions comes close to a RX100 IV ($1k compact camera). In less than ideal conditions (less light, inconsistent exposure), it falls short. I give it a few more years before they catch up to premium compact cameras.

i wonder if we could have a few samples to download and check at full quality...

This is a comparison of behaviour in low light of the 5S (left) against 6s (right). Both pictures were taken at the same time, side by side. Since this is a crop and then a screenshot you won't see the EXIT data. Exposure was 1/17s for both, ISO 1250 on the 5S and ISO 1600 on the 6s. The amount of detail and less noise on the S is very visible.

Regarding the different exposures this seems to corroborate the idea that because of the smaller pixels of the 6s they have to receive more light. Happy to send them some more light if this is the result!

Loving phone so far. 3d touch is awesome. No more Safari reloads....dynamic!! The camera, however, disappointed. For the first time I feel Apple is a BIG step behind in this regard. I have been comparing to my 6Plus and to be honest on many occasions I think the regular 6Plus gets the better photo. Other manufacturers have surpassed Apple with the camera, and Apple has not caught up. I love IOS too much to switch, but for the first time in awhile the thought has entered my mind. I liked having the best, or near best cell phone camera, as camera is important to me. Right now I think there are many better options for a cell phone camera.

Which phone would you consider?

These pictures seem to suffer from the smudginess that Apple likes to use for noise reduction, well at least since the iPhone six I believe. Images just don't look that crisp anymore.

Not impressed with the new camera for the most part, but it's not bad (definitely capable of getting good shots) and I think video performance will be better than the competition. G4 & S6 OIS tends to warp handheld video. Even the 6S video without OIS (all the 6 models actually) do better for keeping video properly stable.

It's really too bad the new camera doesn't have more of a wow factor, though. I'm seeing lots of blown out highlights in photos and smudginess where there should be detail. Apple better step up their camera game big time for the next release.
