Here are a few pictures from our July 4th celebration!

I have to ask this, but does this happen to be Wizards Chess from Harry Potter? I recognize the pieces. Just wondering!

Note: I am a nerd, but I just HAD to ask. Ha!

messed around with that tilt app

Took this one this morning while driving to work (don't worry, i was at a stop light). The fact that this van had a "New Driver...give me a brake" sticker and also a "Warning, Explosive Toxic Materials, Stay back 20 ft" sticker gave me one of those WTF? moments.

Sorry for the poor picture. Dark, gloomy morning and my windshield probably wasn't the cleanest either.

The depth of field created with TiltShift Generator in this pic is amazing. I have plain old Tiltshift and it always seems to distort the contrast or saturation even if you are only adjusting lens blur. Great shot.

Thanks! For me, LESS IS BETTER. When using TSG, i am very careful not to overdo it, or it will lose its realistic effect.

It's funny, I have been very unhappy with Tiltshift since I gt my iPhone 4, however they just released a major update that fixed a blur / color bug in iOS4 and now it works good again.

I saw some still driving around outside...must be using them for something...train was nice, and incredibly good looking space designed around it...

Yeah, it's definitely a huge improvement. Doesn't feel as strange and low-rent as the Jawas did.

I suppose there was a sort of quirky appeal about them, though.

As much as I hate it, I might have to finally break down and buy Hipstamatic.

It's really pretty brilliant. I don't much use the stock camera app anymore.

My reasoning is that the iPhone's camera really isn't quite there yet for "real" photography, but it makes a damn good toy camera analogue. And toy camera photography has its own aesthetic appeal. Hope they keep supporting the app with more lenses and films.

.

The only problem I have with it is that most of the photos (your black and white ones from this thread excluded) tend to look the same.

Well, like any photography, composition and lighting are paramount. You'd be surprised the cool stuff you can shoot with samey tools. I think what I love about Hipstamatic is the off-the-cuff nature. I don't spend any time tweaking the photos, I just shoot them and roll with what I get. It's less meticulous and more spontaneous.
