I bought the original Droid and owned nothing but Androids until last April when I bought the 6 Plus. Last month I sold the Plus and bought a Note 5. IPhones are not for me but every Android owner should try one. I own an iPad Air and am happy with that.

Same thing with me. I love my ipad air but love my Droid Turbo 2 much more than the 6s plus I tried. But I'm glad I was able to try one out for a month.

1. iMessege and Continuity.
Continuity is nice, but Google Hangouts does the same exact thing.

2. Camera is BOSS!
It's not even rated in the top 3 right now.

3. Apps are of higher quality.
Are you referring to Apple-specific apps are ones that are available across all platforms? Because from my experience, the Android versions of any apps available on iOS are higher quality and more feature-rich because their features are not limited by Apple's walled garden. They have more access to OS features, which expands their usage. I was actually a bit surprised seeing how different some apps were on Android than on iOS.

Thanks for all the thoughts. I've gone ahead and bought a 6plus and I've used it for 1 day. So fast I'm liking it, for a great deal on swappa and even have an Apple leather case thrown in the deal.
Glad to hear it. Keep us posted on how you like it.

1) I've never seen anyone who is not a self-proclaimed Android fan boy using Hangouts. Furthermore Google is rumoured to kill SMS integration.

2) Camera is not rated in the top 3 however it consistently delivers top notch quality photos. Some Android phones can only deliver the photos that reviewers rave about in very specific conditions. Even so hardly anyone would say iPhone camera is bad, well except the category of people mentioned in 1.

3) Third party Android apps are ALWAYS worse than the iOS versions. Even running on the latest Android phones they lag and skip frames. And I'm talking about top apps including Google apps. Worse a lot of apps from big companies (Facebook, Microsoft and even Google) go to iOS first.

There have always been iPhone killers, since 2011. And yet iPhone is still not killed.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

OP, I suggest you not switch to iPhone. After all Android is said to be such a superior platform I think any Android users will have a hard time adjusting to the inferior experience.

I would hardly say it's inferior. I'm retiring a Note 4 and a Note Edge all because of what I get on my 6S/6S+. I'm just using the Note 4 as a remote for my TV/receiver/Comcast box.

I'm not a fanboy of anything and I also fail to see what that has to do with any of this. I use Hangouts all the time, especially for making phone calls/video calls to friends in other countries. SMS integration isn't going away, lol. Ever hear of Google Fi? My point was regarding continuity and that it also exists on Android as well, so that wasn't an advantage over Android. Both require that the other person either also be using Hangouts or have an iPhone. So they're limited in that way. At least with Hangouts it doesn't matter what device they're using as long as they can install Hangouts.

2) Camera is not rated in the top 3 however it consistently delivers top notch quality photos. Some Android phones can only deliver the photos that reviewers rave about in very specific conditions. My Nexus 6P camera takes a dump all over the 6S camera ... especially in low light conditions ... conditions in which the iPhone has never been very good at ... and still isn't. Is it a good camera? Of course it is. I don't know what conditions you are referring to, but any condition delivers quality photos from my phone.

3) Third party Android apps are ALWAYS worse than the iOS versions. Even running on the latest Android phones they lag and skip frames. And I'm talking about top apps including Google apps. Worse a lot of apps from big companies (Facebook, Microsoft and even Google) go to iOS first.
You and I have very different experiences then. I don't have any lag or stutter in my apps. Maybe older Android phones, but certainly not this one running Marshmallow. Referring to past experiences to debate current circumstances is really not productive. You're also flat out lying regarding Google Apps on Android. They are lightning fast on my phone. No idea what you're talking about. Why would Google make worse iterations of their own apps on their own platform? Lol.

I also don't know what you're referring to about "going to iOS first." I use both platforms and the Android versions receive updates more frequently than their iOS counterpart and have more features. Just because something goes to iOS first does not make it better in any shape or form. It just means it goes to that platform first.

There have always been iPhone killers, since 2011. And yet iPhone is still not killed.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Dunno what that has to do with anything. I never made any mention of the iPhone being killed. That's all you. Thanks for blindly supporting the iPhone with misinformation though.

I have nothing against the iPhone or iOS. But I do have something against misinformation. Fortunately there are multiple platforms to choose from to suit the needs of the user.

I use hangouts on iOS daily. It's how I chat with half of my friends since it's on literally every platform you can imagine, unlkike iMessage. Ironically mesages app on iOS allows for logging into a google account. I would dump hangouts completely on ios if messages app on ios allowed the same functionality.

Exactly. You can access Hangouts on almost everything.

The lagging and skipping frames bit hasn't been true in my experience (I use an Android work device) for two or more years now. This absolutely used to be the case though. I've been using vanilla (or damn near it with Moto X) for that length of time though, so YMMV with heavily modded and skinned OS's like what Samsung uses.

Many apps do go to iOS first, but I would think that is based on sheer numbers of premium handsets being in iOS's favor. You mentioned facebook, that was an absolutely DOG POOP app for years on iOS. I would say it just got usable in the last two years as well. Crashing, not loading content. It's a well known fact that Android apps are able to do more since they have fewer restrictions. It's not a contest really, IMO, but it is worth noting. Some apps are downright crippled on iOS. Whether that matters is up to the user though.

Most paid apps come to iOS first because they can charge more on the Apple App Store as opposed to the Google Play Store which would have double the amount of apps that are similar that are cheaper or free.

But I have to say though that some Gapps do work better on iOS. Maps for example lets you delete your work address whereas on Lollipop and and prior, it would not allow you to do so. You can remove it but unless you replace it with something else, it stays and gives you travel time info based on it. Not sure about Marshmallow since I haven't used it yet.
Hangouts on the other hand is not as good. You can't share anything to hangouts in the share menu on say a picture or a link for example. Not sure if it is Google that didn't implement it or Apple not allowing it!

You must have figured it it by now that this place is full with misinformation about Android!
Half of the members think their experience on a Samsung Galaxy device is representative of what Android is!
The only way to experience unadulterated Androids is via a Nexus or a Google Play Edition device!

You just delete your work address from your personal contact information and it's removed from Google Maps. GMaps syncs with your contacts so that's where you delete it ... on both Android and iOS.

Not sure what you're referring to regarding Hangouts. Everything I do on Hangouts in Android appears on iOS or Chrome. What are you trying to share that isn't sharing? Maybe what you're saying is a real issue, but I'm not sure what you're referring to.

I have noticed, so I don't know why it continues to surprise me. A lot of the information regurgitated on here regarding Android was probably true years ago, but it isn't anymore. It's the same thing I chuckle at when someone says they don't like iOS cuz they used an iPhone 3GS a long time ago. It's like ... things have changed since then. -.-

Yeah I've tried deleting it from my Google account on the PC as well and unless you change it, it doesn't allow it to be null. Unless it has changed in the past couple of months. On iOS, the Google Maps lets you delete it within the app and it stays blank.
As for Hangouts, I'm referring to the iOS app. You can't share to Hangouts in iOS like you can share to Whatsapp, Facebook or iMessage!

Well as of right now, you can delete your work address from within GMaps and it will stay blank. So that's an option now.

Share what? Photos? Videos?

When it us blank, does Google Now stop showing your your work commute info?

You can't share anything to Hangouts in iOS. It's just not an option.

Yes. But you have to remove it from your personal contact info and Maps.

You can't share anything to Hangouts in iOS. It's just not an option.
Well that's stupid. I don't know if that's a Google thing or an Apple thing. Or both.

So you agree that there's at least 3 better droid Camera phones.. so the OP comment that camera is boss is a bit misleading wouldn't you agree..

The appsthe person I qted mentioned are free on all platforms. The big hitter apps still come to iOS first, and are still free (because they make money in other ways). I am sure the random little apps that arenb;t downloaded by tens of millions work exactly like you decribed though.

Samsung is the number one selling Android manufacturer. Unfortunately, it's not hard for people unwilling to spend time and money into buying their devices. I love Android, but it shouldn't be as frustrating as it is for the average person with nothing but BASIC smartphone knowledge to go into a store and buy a phone that runs smoothly and does the things they need it to do. This is something Apple absoluitely mastered (though they did depart from it a bit here and there with the 6 plus, for me, but that's for another thread).

And that's what Facebook Messenger/ WhatsApp/ Line/ Wechat etc do. Feel free to show me statistics and numbers of Google Hangouts being used as a common method of inter platform communication.

Sure I am lying. Every one who has the balls to say iPhone is better has been all lying, since 2011.
