I literallt just noticed this guy's screen name is "appledefenseforce". I no longer think I need to say more lol.

My username has nothing to do with people lying about user experience. But hey if that is what makes you feel superior and better about your arguments, who am I to stop that? After all as an iPhone user I am aware I am not as advanced as you folks.

And that's what Facebook Messenger/ WhatsApp/ Line/ Wechat etc do. Feel free to show me statistics and numbers of Google Hangouts being used as a common method of inter platform communication.
That isn't what you said. What you said was silly nonsense regarding "fanboys" and wasn't based on anything other than personal biases that have nothing to do with actual usage. The point wasn't that other messaging apps exist ... the point was regarding continuity as something that is supposedly an advantage over Android ... when in in fact Android does have continuity with Hangouts. The amount of people that use Hangouts is an entirely separate issue that has nothing to do with the main point of continuity and you keep going off on a tangent.

Sure I am lying. Every one who has the balls to say iPhone is better has been all lying, since 2011.
You're not making any sense. And based on your username I can see why. I'm not out to bash the iPhone. You were just spreading FUD and misinformation and you've been corrected.

After all as an iPhone user I am aware I am not as advanced as you folks.
You should just change your username to "defensive" because that's all you're doing is being defensive. As an iPhone user and an Android user I don't understand your relentless need to defend Apple when that wasn't the point of any of this. Nobody is stating their superiority here, lol.

Youre condescending responses are what I first noticed. The username was icing on the cake.

I don't claim to be an advanced user. And I am not sure what, exactly, you call lies. Your blanket statements about Android and apps are what I would consider closer to lies, but I won't call them that, because they were all true at one point in time. Mininformed seams closer to the right term to me.

I am unsure why you are asking for stats. I am not saying it's the best, it's great, it's flawless. You claimed only self proclaimed Android fanboys, in your experience, use that platform. I am nt that. SO I am evidence that, once again, your blanket statements do not work.

Feel free to look up statistics yourself, if that is what you wish. I have no idea who or what is ahead of the pack for inter platform communication. It works for me and the people I converse with don't use any of the above, aside from Hangouts. So for me, nothing works better. Period.

finally you have seen some sense...

I've been an Android user for years, pretty much since the original Motorola Droid X. I just switched to a 6s Plus and am finally content with a phone. And I've never seen Hangouts sync SMS across devices. It syncs Hangouts messages, but unless you forward crap to Google Voice, it doesn't work. But now I get my texts on all my Apple devices. For what I need, Apple won me over. It may not be the best at everything, or have the most customization - but what it does, it does very well and I think it's the most well rounded phone on the market.

Yes, I have used a Note 5, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P over the last few months before switching.

What are you talking about? Hangouts is for texting other people with Hangouts. Nobody said anything about texting people that don't have Hangouts. You use the default SMS app that comes with the phone to text other people if they don't have or don't want to use Hangouts. You also don't seem to understand how iMessage works. It only works if the other person has an iPhone with iMessage turned on. You can't send an iMessage to anyone that doesn't have an iPhone ... they'll get sent as normal texts. You can differentiate the two because iMessages are blue and normal texts are green. SMS does not get synced across all devices either. Only iMessages do, so unless every single person you are texting has an iPhone then no ... not all your texts are being synced. Hangouts is for texting or video calling via Hangouts. iMessage is for texting people with iPhones. So yes ... Hangouts syncs Hangouts messages across all devices. You can also make free phone calls in the U.S. and Canada with Hangouts Dialer now.

You have to actually understand what it is that you're using if you want to come to a proper conclusion.

On Android, you can actually use hangouts to manager your SMS. It doesn't sync from one device to another and is basically useless (for that feature), unlike iMessage, which does this very well.

It is almost as if Hangouts SMS handling was an afterthought on Google's part. Seems to me if it can sync hangouts to hangouts messages just fine it should be able to handle everything else but... not the case lol.

Well I've never even used that feature ... Google even says Hangouts isn't ready for that yet. They encourage using the default texting app so wasn't even aware of that. Having said that, my point still remains regarding continuity and iMessage ... it only works with iMessage ... not normal texts. You won't get any of your normal texts synced with your Mac ... so in that way ... it's still dependent on the other person having an iPhone ... whereas with Hangouts (or any other messaging app) it will be synced with whatever other device you have the app installed to. Since Hangouts is available on almost everything ... and almost any browser just by going to your Gmail or Google Plus account ... it's a lot more versatile. Some messaging apps don't have a desktop app or can't be accessed as easily as Hangouts. There are also 300 million Google+ users and God knows how many Gmail accounts, so there are a lot more users that have access to it than some here care to acknowledge. iMessage is limited to iMessage only in regards to continuity. So it really doesn't have an advantage other than you don't have to install an app. You just need an iPhone. But that's limited in its own way ... greatly.

It's because it's terrible lol. It's been there for years too. Google should either kill it completely or remove it until it's somewhat ready for rime time. I can't imagine anyone using it unless they are completely masochistic lol.

What I dont udnerstand is what the technical holdup is. Hangouts already stores all other messages. WHy not just "flip the switch" to store SMS?

EDIT: Continuity does work with SMS though, I should point that out. It's absolutely not limited to iMessage. I regularly send texts on OSX and used to more sparingly on my iPad Mini before I sold it since it ran slow as dirt lol.

Yes they are. I know how this works. I can text ANYONE from my Mac or iPad. Doesn't have to be iMessage. I can only send Hangouts to people with Hangouts. I can use my messaging on my iOS devices to send messages to anyone with a phone. That, to me, is much more handy.

I'm well aware of how this works. Ain't my first rodeo buddy.

Because of Google's Project Fi, which is still in beta. Hangouts is an integral part of Fi ... so once they get that squared away I believe Hangouts will be a much more mature app. I see the SMS option and it's disabled by default. But with Fi they tell you to turn it on. Dunno ... they're working on it ... lol.

I never see any of my text messages sync on my Mac that aren't from friends or family with iPhones. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

I stand corrected.

Please don't take this as me being a smartA but I wanted to show you what I mean. Disregard the tect my son sent on my phone (he is two and loves playing with it lol). But at least you can see it's green and being sent as SMS. Of course, amazon wouldn't be messaging me with imessage anyway :)

EDIT: By the way, that Apple Watch sports band is 99% the same as what Apple sells for $49.00. We paid $11.88 ;)

And I'm not intending to bash Google. I still love the company. But the Android/Chrome/Google ecosystem is too disjointed for me right now. If they get something more akin to how my phone, Mac and iPad can work together, I'd go back. But for what I want right now, Apple has won me over.

Incredibly Windows 10 and Windows Phone 10 have the most jointed (for lack of a better word lol) system, the apps are just trailing. I hope that the changes they have made with app developement (develope once and the rest is just scaling between W10 and WP10) changes things.

I would love to have everything I have on W10 on WP10. I have tried the platform before and apps were always the sore point even way back with WP7 (though that also had many of the same growing pains as iOS did early on).

I'm not defending Google ... just been disgruntled lately. It's all good.

I actually really like Windows 10. I've never used Windows Phone so I can't chime in on that. I have heard app selection sucks on it. I'd like to see it be a three horse race because that would be better for all of us!

I am there too. Everyone has their own "answer" to everything, and it ends up all being the same. The problem is nobody is willing (and in some cases able) to have one single app do everything on all platforms. iMessage is great but it means almost nothing to an Android or Windows user. Google is on the right track but it will mean almost nothing to Apple or Windows users either (since both mobile platforms block out SMS handling by other apps).

I said before that it would be lovely if Apple just built hangouts (and possibly other messaging services) into iMessage; they already have done on the OSX version. Unsure if licensing or what holds them back. Just seems sully to have to have multiple messaging apps, but it is that way on all paltforms currently, unless of course all contacts share said platform.

Windows phone 10 is like Windows 10 on a tiny screen with no apps/software lol. MS hopes to change this by having developers make software for windows 10 (which is very well adopted and therefore worth a developers effort) and then just scale it down very simply in order to work on the phone).

I finally got disgruntled with Google and trying to find the right combo of devices until I realized that what I wanted was an iPhone and Mac. I would absolutely come back if they'd figure a few things out.

I've been using the iPhone for almost a week now. Things I've noticed:
Better battery life than my nexus 6, overnight on standby it barely losses anything where the n6 would lose at last 4 to 5%.

Love the size, not at all to big and easy for me to use 1 handed.

Love the screen, I'm really not noticing a difference between it and the 4k screen of the nexus.

All the Google apps I've been used to using all work on the iPhone, but some don't work as well. Swiftkey works but doesn't seem as good as on android. Google now works and gmail works.

Things I miss are small, but still present. Choosing a ringtone is WAY easier on the nexus, just pick any song you want. Siri isn't as good as Google now,, with the nexus you could say "OK google" anytime and do anything.

One other thing I don't understand is why safari doesn't scroll the same as chrome or opera. No matter how intense an input safari only moves an inch or so. I'm used chrome where if you want you can flip the page all the way to the bottom. Am I missing a setting somewhere or is that just how safari works?
