Anybody that thinks that Apple marketing actually uses leaks isn't paying attention and has no clue what Apple culture is like.
you must be a newbie @ this....
apple is notorious for product part, device scandals, and insider feature/spec leaks prior to the product unveiling/WWDC 2-3 times a year..
apple is slowly building momentum and hype for the october product refreshes
Very interesting. I find myself taking plenty of pictures with my iPhone 4, so a real upgrade in quality would be meaningful for me. However, extra megabits isn't really going to help that much. I want low light capability and better lens. Often I only email around a smaller than fullsized picture anyway. I hope Apple keeps focused on the quality of the picture and doesn't get into the stupid megabits war.
HTC just announced phones with f/2.2 lenses, so camera quality is likely to improve across the board in high end phones.
Is this post for real? I'm hoping it's a bad joke.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)
No, not a noob. And it is your false assumption that the leaks are intentional.
Edit: Ok, I'll rephrase....anyone that thinks an obscure photo showing up on Flickr is a controlled leak from Apple is making some serious leaps in logic. You are really stretching the boundaries of what a marketing department might do. (I worked in marketing before I went into IT.)
IF/When Apple uses controlled leaks, they are leaks to media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal. They make a phone call or meet in person and tell them details they want leaked.
Pay attention to the iPad 2 leaks. The people responsible were prosecuted. This is not the mark of a controlled leak. There are still many leaks that happen without Apple's consent. Stop assuming each little thing you see is a controlled leak. Only assume the "an unnamed source says...." in a major news outlet is a controlled leak.
i think you underestimate Apple... apple is using more than just WSJ/analyst insider articles to confirm product development/refreshes
apple is in a league of its own... although the picture was leaked on a flicker account, whats stopping an apple employee from using flicker for their job/marketing?! didnt a user trace the photo's location to Cupertino!? /thread
apple will never get exposed, but the entire "losing a phone in a resturaunt" scandal was planned to get it to BGR and get a front page leak put out to excite the fans... who DOESNT like to see something that they're not meant to see?! (yet)
i wouldnt put anything past apple... they're willing to utilize anything to generate buzz, im sure one day someone will find an iphone final prototype and leak it on facebook claiming to not work for apple...and end up generating a ton of buzz across blogs..
anything that leaks from apple is handled either directly or indirectly by apple... to make it look like an innocent isolated situation
ask yourself this... why doesnt anybody leak the KINDLE TABLET, or any other device like an apple device?!
Bring it on. Does not look like 8MP though.
Well, it's been resized to 560x574.
What do you think 8MP is supposed to look like? It's going to look like a 1MP picture resized to the same dimensions.
An 8MP picture should have more detail assuming there isn't much noise to obscure the detail and the lens is up to task. To my eyes though, in this picture things look slightly blurred presumably due to the unstable hand of the photographer so the photo looks a bit soft, wasting the potential of more megapixels. Next time hopefully they will use a tripod.
If anything the focus is slightly off.
I think the detail is fine for a resized 8MP camera. If anything, I'm glad it's not oversharpened.

The quality of the image doesn't look any better than the iPhone 4. Not crisp, not bright.... just alright. Can't understand why Apple can't get the camera thing right on their devices?
Agreed. The Nokia N8 has a 1/1.83'' sensor for its camera, which is right now the largest you can get on a camera phone(and actually larger than the typical P&S camera which generally has a 1/2.3'' sensor).
As an ex-Nokia fan I think the screen(not res but viewing angles and color) is another thing going for it, but that doesn't make up for the stale software, and poor choice of using Wind'ohs Phone 7 for future device. Should have just stayed with MeeGo.The N8's camera is fantastic, the only thing that phone has got going for it other than Nokia Maps.
