whew

I was going to buy an iMac next week, so I'm glad I found this rumor. :) I'm still buying a MBP next week and then an iMac as soon as the new ones are out.:apple:

How are you MBP owners liking your Thunderbolt port? Do you feel like someone with a DVD disk in 1975?

lol well there is no peripherals available for TB..

lacie is/has released the little big disk/ TB
seagate has announced that the go-flex drives will have a TB adapter

im much prefer the sandybridge CPU and sata-3 hdd ports.. roll on the vertex 3 and getting 500 + mb/s read/write

Please, show us the links

Can you show us any ads or online sales links for any TBolt devices? Or, are you agreeing that TBolt is currently vaporware?

They've announced it - with "Summer 2011" (northern hemisphere) availability. A few months to wait to actually buy on.

Again, the future tense is used.

Is it likely that the new 21.5 inch iMacs will have i7 2600k CPUs? And does anybody have any idea which GPUs will be fitted into the new systems? (Hopefully the new ATI 6000 series cards, just like in the new MacBook Pros.)

The current 27 inch model has great specs, but it is too big for me. The 21.5 inch is a pefect size for me, but I wish it was as fast as the 27 inch.

Same preferences for me. I own a 21,5 inch iMac mid 2010 Core i3 3,2 GHz, but the graphic card is still slow/medium.
A min. 1 GB GDDR5 card is a must have on a computer in this price segment.

It has only been nineteen days since this story was originally posted. It really does seem like it has been so much longer than that. I guess the old expression about a watched pot never boils is actually true!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

I am looking forward to buying my first iMac this year ..... I can't wait any longer although I will be buying it only when the new iMacs ship with lion preinstalled ... Probably July ish??? Darn it.

Hopefully this is true. My Nov 2007 iMac needs replacing :)

Its going to be a year of Apple upgrades for me this year :D New iMac, Macbook, OS X Lion.

No Hardware Updates???

Not that this really means much...but I frequent the Mac Town that I live near. One of the employees told me just last week that he had heard Apple does not plan to release any hardware updates for the iMacs this year. But, then again, at this store half of the employees look as if they are stoned out of their minds.

Most flippant and ignorant response on this thread.
Have you actually looked at the Blu Ray catalogue?

What a snarky statement.

Most self-righteous statement in this whole thread. How many titles not owned by Hollywood studio's. Give me a percentage.

I won't be surprise if the new Imac got push to June to be same annoucement of the new OS, i rather buy with the new OS than buying the old one anyway, hopefully they let you choose to get the magic touchpad and magic mouse and not just magic mouse. What I really want to see is price drop perhaps $200 in across model.

Not likely. Apple has not released new hardware with a new OS before. No precedent, no happening.

Is there any more info for the upgrade? On the verge of buying one but will wait if it's within a matter of weeks.

Get rid of the dvd drive

Super thin imac without the dvd drive [if you need one, just go external]. People will scream yes, but its time for it to go. Apple always leads the rest in this regard; but they eventually come around kicking and screaming. They screamed when they abandoned the 5.25" floppy, then when they eliminated it, also when the imac only had usb ports, etc...etc.

like anyone cared outside the 1% of people that used Mac's

Why are you on this forum with comments like that?
A dvd driveless imac [with only a solid state drive, forgot to mention that] is coming. Hopefully this year.

I fail to understand the benefit of a desktop computer without any kind or type of optical drive. Why do you want it to be super thin? Wouldn't that lead to heat issues? It's a desktop computer, not a laptop. How often do you need to carry it around? Why don't you just buy a 17 inch MacBook Pro!

Because optical drives are close to being obsolete; and Apple is always ahead of the curve in this regard.

I don't even know if that is even true, but how are you planning on installing the next version of OS X without a optical drive. What are you gonna do when you are having problems and you can't just boot off of the install disk and run utilities? Remember that we're talking about quite a few GB's of data... and remember too that we are talking about a desktop computer. Is your desk so shallow that it cannot accommodate an iMac unless Apple makes the iMac an inch thinner? I might be able to see your point if you are talking about an ultra-portable laptop type of computer, but a desktop? Really? I still think that if you were to try to make it super thin that heat would be an issue and you would end up with a much less powerful desktop computer. Remember that we are talking about a desktop computer here. How often do you throw that into your bag and take it to school? All we're gonna end up with are pathetic desktop computers that suck when it comes to performance. I believe in the law of diminishing returns. Just because something can be done doesn't mean that it should be done. What if apple could make a small computer the size of a regular wristwatch? Wouldn't that be really cool? And totally freakin' useless!
