Airport Extreme with Thunderbolt?

Now that LaCie is out with a few Thunderbolt disk drives, two SSDs and one rotating drive, how soon before the Airport Extreme comes out with a Thunderbolt port, so my backups go a little faster, or will the wifi be the limiter?

While we are on that, how long before the Express becomes a iOS/Apple A5 device?

And if you are looking for specs from unannounced products from Apple, you are going to quickly get used to being disappointed.

Mate I've been following MacRumors for many years. I don't need a description of the website.

You miss the point entirely. The site is all about speculation, fact or fiction, about forthcoming products. However, there's nothing in this "news" piece that's worth speculating. Nothing we can't figure ourselves.

It's still news whether it's classed as a rumor or not. However, there's no substance of worth in this news. That was the point.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

What is it with the 24"? I would like to see something larger than 27 (as I have 30" already). Mini refresh would be nice - then I'd keep my 30".
They need to do it soon or people will wait for Lion before upgrading their hardware.

As I posted in another thread, Amazon is showing low stock. The uk store also seems low, another user saw that first.

I wish we had a separate site to weed through the ios and mac rumors. Just me?

FYI guys, just in case we need a refresher here since it been a while. I hope this helps to jog some memories.

  • iMac: A line of desktop computers available from Apple Inc. iMac computers were introduced in 1998.
  • Desktop computer: A personal computer (PC) in a form intended for regular use at a single location, as opposed to a mobile laptop or portable computer.
  • Mac: An Apple computer, also known as a Macintosh computer. See also Macintosh.
  • Macintosh: A line of personal computers from Apple Inc. Introduced in 1984, the Macintosh computer was the first commercially successful personal computer to use a graphical user interface (GUI) and a mouse instead of a command-line interface.

Because you are not the average consumer. i would never get a 27" as it would probably burn my retinas, and the 21" seems too small. 24 is right in the middle and perfect sized. and what is this mini iMac? 17" cheaper macbook pro on a stand? sure i guess but what is the reasoning? i guess price but if its a desktop it doesn't matter how big it is. or do they want a 900$ one?

I agree with your statement on Lion. they should go for mid-April rather than May. and besides OSX is what? 26 bucks?

Also would like a better mac mini.

The updated iMacs are said to feature Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt as expected, but no major cosmetic changes are reported to be included.

This is a no brainer. What's the next piece of breaking news, an annual iPhone centric event in June or July?

Maybe all those "OS on SD and everything else on HD was aimed more at iMac????

Here's hopin.

Finally some iMac news :)!

Getting a high-end 27" no matter what. My early 2010 MacBook Pro was stolen in last february, and I've been using a ****** PC ever since. I want a Mac again!

CANT WAIT!

Was going to go with one of the new MacBook Pros, but I am more of a desktop guy so I decided to wait.

Going for the top of the line model.

This adds nothing to the discussion but at first I thought - "shoot" I just got my 27" iMac in January! Then I remembered I bought a "refurb" so I'd have to wait at least another 3 months before the new models started to show up in the refurb store. And with 12GB of RAM my i7 is by far the best computer I have ever owned, fast, quiet, and what a beautiful screen!

Like my iPad1, going to skip this generation and wait for the next.

Huh? What are those weird things you speak of, and what does it have to do with iOS? :p

Well said sir, well said :(

Good, my iMac G4 began to act its age — but really only with PS3 — a couple of months ago. I plan to again max out the processor, memory and harddrive upgrades and get another 7.5 years out of this next one.

Sounds like you'd be interested in a nice Windows7 machine. Enjoy.

Seriously I am an apple fangirl, but this response embarrassed me. If in the future apple start offering 24 and 30 inch models, will you take back this statement.

Still rockin' the 2008 24" Core2 Duo 3.06 Ghz iMac. Best Mac I've ever owned. Next Mac will be whatever the largest screen they make and fastest chip they have whenever this one dies. 100% sold on the iMac.

As tracked in our Buyer's Guide, the iMac has reached its average update interval, suggesting that we might be able to expect refreshed models to appear some time in the relatively near future. Expectations for revamped iMacs include a move to Sandy Bridge processors and implementation of the new Thunderbolt connectivity standard that debuted in the MacBook Pro last month.

In a series of Tweets (via MacNews.de), CNET's Brian Tong claims to have received word from a reliable source that new iMacs should debut in late April or early May. The updated iMacs are said to feature Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt as expected, but no major cosmetic changes are reported to be included.iMac rumors have been relatively sparse in recent months, although DigiTimes indicated in mid-December that Apple was expected to update both the MacBook Pro and iMac in the first half of 2011 with the iMac featuring a new panel size and price points. Just days before the MacBook Pro update in late February, DigiTimes reiterated its claim that may change the screen size on new iMacs, claiming that the new models could debut alongside or soon after the MacBook Pros.

More surprising than this rumor is the fact that it's the first actual MAC rumor (beyond "we've found that the Early 2011 MacBook Pros have quirks" posts) in weeks. None of that is surprising though. I wonder if there will be any surprises with this refresh? I'm guessing no Blu-Ray, which means I'm not buying one. Though I'm still curious as to what'll be under the hood.

Ummm... you do realize that rumour volume doesn't equate to Apple's interest levels or efforts in any particular product. They are almost entirely driven by web traffic and ad views numbers. If Mac News/Rumours generated the sort of traffic that iDevice rumours did I'm sure we would see the same level of "Making @^#^ up" oops sorry, I'm mean In depth analysis about the Mac as we see about iDevices.

I'm still rockin on a 20 inch late 06 iMac. It's been relegated to email checker and emergency C4D node...the thing will not die.
