2. However the Sofun 9 model (23,400mAh) output= 85W max good enough for my late 2011 MBP 17 inch model and all 15 inch non-retina and retina models up to mid 2015.

Hi mrlowkey,

on their website, rooms mentioned that the eUSB soft 9 premium model,
max output is 65W ?

am i looking at the right product ?

thanks!

1. Eventhough RoMoss's website stated..."Output eUSB:..(65W Max)..." , I thought it would be best to doublecheck
through Yosemite's System Information, as previous experience with other manufacturer's portable batteries have made me wary of misleading information.

2. early 2011 MBP 17 charging while I am using it

02.JPG

3. Verified with Coconut Battery & Battery Health software that RoMoss is charging at this point in time = 12.4 Watts
Battery currently @ 94% state

4. System Information under Battery Information/Charge Information/shows Charging-Yes

04.JPG

5. System Information under AC Charger Information/ shows Wattage (W): 85
FYI yes the RoMoss is being recognized as an AC Charger

From this I concluded that the true output is 85 Watts max

6. I would recommend you contact RoMoss senior technical executive Mr.Ronnie Sng of MStation (subsidiary of RoMoss) for further technical questions. His details are listed in his name card. He is helpful and knowledgeable.

Wow, this is a great find! If these guys put out a USB-C specific 80W+ battery pack I'll be all over it!

thanks mrlowkey!
sorry for the lapse ...
after i saw your reply, i saw that mba, requires lesser than
85w...
was happy, and was planning around the devices...
. laptop,
. huawei mobile broadband,
. jaybird x3 headphones,
. ipad ...

got carried away, planning what to carry with my
slipped discs :p

thanks much!

It looks like only the Rooms singapore website listed the magsafe2 -> usb cable, while the international main site: www.romoss.com does not list this product. A quick search thru eBay also yielded nothing. I wonder if Romoss only have obtained the license/right to sell in singapore?

So,
I received my Powerbank from Anker and it's a beast. ;)
Took some hours to charge it up completely, but the Performance is great.
There is also negativity...
I chatted with the support from Anker and they told me, the Powerbank won't work with the new Macbooks.
However, I'm going to try it out in person, when my Macbook Pro arrives.
Maybe It won't charge at its full capability, but I think it will work. ;)

All it takes is a simple calculation. That powerbank you mentioned outputs 5 volts/2.4 amps = 12 watts

The 2016 Macbook Pro 15" requires 86.86 Watts 20.2V~4.3A to charge correctly

Has anyone found some or a powerbank that can handle 86.86 Watts 20.2V~4.3A ?

Thanks

Not yet, but I don't think it would be necessary to get an 87w battery unless you plan to go full throttle on your laptop. A 30w or 60w may be enough until you get to a wall outlet.

AC Portable Charger, RAVPower 27000mAh 100W(Max.) Built in 110V AC Outlet Universal Power Bank Travel Charger (Type-C Port , Dual USB iSmart Ports , 19V/1.6A DC Input) For Macbook, Laptops, Smartphone https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LCFS9S6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_p5Y3ybMNPBKC3

100w through the ac outlet. You'll be hard pressed to find a portable bank that does 87 w through just a USB c port right now

Hello Friends,
:)

i searched for a similar thread but found nothing that fitted my needs.

So the new Macbook Pro's are going to get shipped to us lucky customers soon and thanks to USB-C these Laptops could also charged through powerbanks & portable batteries.

So here is what I'm looking for:

A strong powerful Powerbank/Battery which can charge the new Macbooks at least once (more is always better). ;)

The Powerbank should not harm the Macbook. So it should match with the Output of Apple's official charger (Apple recommends using a maximum of 5A (100W) to charge the new Macbook Pro 15")

It should be still portable. :D I know this Point is difficult, but i have to carry the powerbank to class every day, so portability is a thing.

I found this one from Anker (I have a Anker Powerbank, quality is very good so far):

https://de.anker.com/products/A1371012

on Amazon:

What do you think about that? Could this Guy be a good companion for the new Macbook Pro's?
:)
[doublepost=1493629266][/doublepost]Hey mate, I am looking for same powerbank as you but compatible with Macbook pro 2008? Is that too old? Would I need an externak USB C connection?

You are not going to find a USB power bank that will charge that laptop. Your laptop will not accept USB power input, try to do it and you run the risk of frying your logic board.

You will need one similar to what (I think) was linked earlier in the thread or in another one, that has a Magsafe output.

I've been charging my 15" 2016 rMPB with a different sort of slower-rate charger, and it's been working just fine.

I haven't been using a powerbank charger, but I believe my experience is relevant.

I use a Time Machine backup drive at my office desk. In this scenario, a drive powered by its own wall wart makes more sense than a USB bus-powered drive. I purchased a drive from La Cie whose wall wart not only powered the drive, but also made available 15 watts of charging power to the Mac over the same USB-C cable. I also upgraded the cable, as I need a longer reach and some of the La Cie reviews indicated this might be a weak point.

In months of regular MPB desktop usage, I have effectively never had to use the Apple charger. The 15 watts from the La Cie drive connection is more than enough to power the MBP. It doesn't discharge the battery, but rather charges it. Peak charging rate is obviously less than the Apple charger can achieve, but that has been effectively irrelevant. Even on days when I'm spending 3-4 hours with the MBP in tow, the stints on the 15 watt charger have been enough to keep the battery well charged (if not completely topped off) throughout the day. If my schedule was completely slammed, or I absolutely need at 100% charge at the end of the day I could break out the Apple charger, but I can't recall needing to do so.

So, if you choose a powerbank that can deliver 15 watts (3A at 5v), your experience should mirror mine - at least until the powerbank begins to be discharged.

For reference, here's the La Cie drive in question, and the longer upgraded cable I use with it:

I've been very happy with the Anker 20100 USB C battery. It keeps the laptop charged and will trickle charge it very slowly if all you are doing is browsing the web.

Anyone try this one yet?
https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop/product/HLHW2ZM/A/mophie-powerstation-usb-c-xxl-universal-battery?fnode=85&fs=f=15_mbp_thdblt3_late2016&fh=459d%2B4804

It's on Apple's own site and sold as compatible even with the most recent MBP 15" from 2017. One reviewer said it'll extend the MBP 15" only 4hrs but should do really well on the rest of them. Any thoughts?

I got one yesterday and it charges my MacBook Pro 2016, the system reports charging at 30 W, I plugged it in when my MacBook Pro battery was at 100% and it didn't start to decrease until after approx 4 hours, so I guess you do get around 4 hours extra when surfing and using a little photoshop as I did today.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Do you have the 13" or 15" model? I know the 15" requires quite a bit more power. I have the 15" and would love to have some extra portable power when I travel.

I have bought the portable charger from Aukey for my MacBook Pro. And it is a super powerful charger I have ever had. The best thing about it is that it comes with dual ports and will allow you to charge 2 devices simultaneously with possible high speed.
