In September, Apple said that it would be launching Powerbeats Pro 2 in 2025, and now further evidence of the wireless earbuds has surfaced.

Apple submitted Powerbeats Pro 2 regulatory documents to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in mid-December. The documents were made available to the public this week, and they were spotted by 91Mobiles.

The documents confirm that Apple has continued to take the necessary steps to launch the Powerbeats Pro 2 this year. They also reveal that the left and right earbuds will have model numbers of A3157 and A3158, respectively, while the charging case will be A3160. Beyond that, we have not uncovered any significant details.

Apple also submitted Powerbeats Pro 2 regulatory documents to the Bureau of Indian Standards in November, according to the 91Mobiles report.

Powerbeats Pro are a sportier, fitness-focused alternative to AirPods Pro with built-in, adjustable ear hooks for a secure fit. Apple's teaser video last year showed MLB star Shohei Ohtani wearing the Powerbeats Pro 2, revealing a more vertical, slimmer design compared to the original Powerbeats Pro, which are now discontinued.

We previously reported that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will offer heart rate monitoring during workouts. Based on our iOS 18 code findings, you will be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to gym equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data will be visible in the Health app and other supported apps on the iPhone.

We also confirmed that Powerbeats Pro 2 will support Active Noise Cancellation, Spatial Audio, and Adaptive Audio. The earbuds and charging case will be available in orange, purple, black, or beige, and the case should have a USB-C port.

Based on other recent Beats headphones, other potential upgrades for the Powerbeats Pro 2 include improved sound quality, longer battery life, and improved cross-platform compatibility with Android features like Find My Device.

Apple did not reveal a specific release date in 2025 for the Powerbeats Pro 2, but the regulatory filings hint at a launch within the next few months.

Update: The four colors have the following names: Jet Black, Quick Sand, Electric Orange, and Hyper Purple.

I have been waiting for these for so long. I'm against having Apple everything for accessories but the PBP was the king to me in terms of connectivity, ear hold and sound. I had to let mine go because the charging contacts in the case oxidized so fast that cleaning them with rubbing alcohol became annoying.

I had high hopes for the Beats Fit Pro but they would skip and pause after my weights would crash after an olympic lift. These definitely will have my money.

This is wonderful news! I still use the original Powerbeats Pro regularly. I tried upgrading to other headphone models, but they all had issues with interference and the signal cutting out. So I stayed with these. If they’ve fixed the frustrating issues with seating the headphones in the charging case, these’ll be a home-run. 🌟

Oooo… look at that orange. LOOK AT IT. 🤪

I was burned by the charging bug that plagued my original PowerBeatsPro, making them useless, and am happy with my AirPodsPros, but… love electronic doo-dads in a bright bold color like that.

I'll be trying these out for the noise cancellation during gym courses. Some instructors love to jam the tunes at crazy volumes. My watch will constantly tell me I'm in a loud environment. Still haven't found any buds that feel good in my ears. Here's hoping.

I can't wait. I have to wear something over-the-ear when I exercise because absolutely nothing stays in my ears once I start to sweat. I've been using the originals regularly and am ready for an update.

I’m amazed that nobody seems to have picked up on the fact that TGL, the new indoor golf league, has been using these on all the golfers the past two weeks

The FCC entry for the case means some form of wireless, probably induction charging, maybe Precision Find My.

Hopefully these sound good and have ANC equivalent to the AirPod Pro 2. I had an old pair that I loved, they just dont fall off. They were so much better than the Beat Fit pros which have a tendency to break.

I don't think many know that the league exists. Other athletes have been wearing them for months as well, so its not a huge story either.

I too went through a number of Powerbeats Pro because they refuse to charge. But I can’t pass up that orange. I’ll just buy it with AppleCare.

This strongly suggests a mid-February release for Powerbeats Pro 2. Since Beats almost always releases products on a Thursday, I'll pick Thursday, February 13th, 2025 as the most likely release date.

Macrumors reported that the Beats Studio Pro appears in the FCC database on June 20th, 2023. Beats Studio Pro were released on July 20th, 2023.

Great! You go first and let me know if they fixed that charging problem. :D

I'm a big fan of my Powerbeats Pro despite the charging quirks, but I'm worried that the extra features are going to bring these to AirPods Pro price territory. I use mine for running outside so I don't want or need ANC or Spatial Audio, I'm hoping Apple releases a variant without ANC like they did for the most recent AirPods, but I know that's highly unlikely for these.

I also wonder how accurate the HR monitoring will be compared to the (not-too-accurate) Apple Watch.

The upshot is the current model was on sale cheap. Was given it for Christmas and works great on runs.

I look forward to being given the Powerbeats 2 in about 5 years.

One nice thing about the Beats brand is Apple seems very willing to let them be discounted more aggressively and sooner than they do with core-brand items. I wouldn't be surprised to see these debut at the same ~$250 price point as the originals, but quickly get discounted to more like $150.
