One nice thing about the Beats brand is Apple seems very willing to let them be discounted more aggressively and sooner than they do with core-brand items. I wouldn't be surprised to see these debut at the same ~$250 price point as the originals, but quickly get discounted to more like $150.
I mean, I feel like I see AirPods regularly discounted compared to Beats, but to be fair I don't pay much attention to Beats products.

use as hearing aid?
Unlikely, that will probably remain an AirPod Pro exclusive.

In September, Apple said that it would be launching Powerbeats Pro 2 in 2025, and now further evidence of the wireless earbuds has surfaced.

Apple submitted Powerbeats Pro 2 regulatory documents to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in mid-December. The documents were made available to the public this week, and they were spotted by 91Mobiles.

The documents confirm that Apple has continued to take the necessary steps to launch the Powerbeats Pro 2 this year. They also reveal that the left and right earbuds will have model numbers of A3157 and A3158, respectively, while the charging case will be A3160. Beyond that, we have not uncovered any significant details.

Apple also submitted Powerbeats Pro 2 regulatory documents to the Bureau of Indian Standards in November, according to the 91Mobiles report.

Powerbeats Pro are a sportier, fitness-focused alternative to AirPods Pro with built-in, adjustable ear hooks for a secure fit. Apple's teaser video last year showed MLB star Shohei Ohtani wearing the Powerbeats Pro 2, revealing a more vertical, slimmer design compared to the original Powerbeats Pro, which are now discontinued.

We previously reported that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will offer heart rate monitoring during workouts. Based on our iOS 18 code findings, you will be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to gym equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data will be visible in the Health app and other supported apps on the iPhone.

We also confirmed that Powerbeats Pro 2 will support Active Noise Cancellation, Spatial Audio, and Adaptive Audio. The earbuds and charging case will be available in orange, purple, black, or beige, and the case should have a USB-C port.

Based on other recent Beats headphones, other potential upgrades for the Powerbeats Pro 2 include improved sound quality, longer battery life, and improved cross-platform compatibility with Android features like Find My Device.

Apple did not reveal a specific release date in 2025 for the Powerbeats Pro 2, but the regulatory filings hint at a launch within the next few months.

I am surprised these aren't released already. They are being used on TGL and Tiger was wearing them last night. Seems like if they are already there then there isn't much left to launch them.

It's not uncommon to see athletes and other celebrities with Beats product pre-release. Hopefully that means these are releasing soon 🤞

With Ohtani as the focus of promotion, I’ve wondered if the release of these will correspond with MLB’s spring training. That’s mid to late February, which seems to line up with this article. It was hard passing up those AP2 deals around Christmas. Hoping the sound/feature quality is comparable with the added support of ear hooks.

I bought these day one on the inital launch, and they would have been my most favorite wireless earbuds if they'd had active noise cancellation. The fit, the sound, the battery life, and the comfort were just amazing. But I sold them and got the AirPods Pro (and subsequently the Pro 2), which have served me well. Looks like I might finally be able to retire those and go back to my first love, providing the case has wireless charging.

Beats has many great sounding earbuds nowadays. I believe it will sound better than current AirPods Pro. Problem isn't the sound quality, it's their choice of material.

They love to use this seamless combo between hard plastic and soft silicone creating the illusion of unibody construction, but over time it will peel off and render the headset unusable. I've had it with Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats, they were great for workout earbuds until the earhook deteriorates, cracked and peeled in between the hard plastic and soft silicone barely after 1 year warranty. Can't use it without the earhooks because it keeps falling off my ears.

AirPods Pro OTOH is a hard plastic with changeable eartips. It lasts way longer and I'd just replace the tips when it becomes loose or peeling.

I’m amazed that nobody seems to have picked up on the fact that TGL, the new indoor golf league, has been using these on all the golfers the past two weeks
I’m amazed that you think anyone would care

I can’t wait. I lost my original Powerbeats pro a while ago. I replaced them with the AirPods Pro 2, but they have a tendency to fall specially when working out.

I did have issues with charging them so I hope they fixed that too.

Good to know about this. Waiting to see the final colours. It is a good alternative to AirPods.

Based on the FCC submission, the Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds don’t have “simultaneous transmission capability.”

The analysis from PatentlyApple is:
  • The device doesn’t allow simultaneous transmission capability though. This could mean it won’t support Bluetooth multi-connect or the ability to connect the earphones to two or more devices simultaneously. Meanwhile, AirPods Pro 2 allow seamless switching between Apple devices but the same is not possible with other platforms.

I believe they are referring to Bluetooth multipoint, rather than multi-connect. Multipoint is the ability to watch a show on your iPad and still hear notifications that come through to your phone. Read more about Bluetooth multipoint here from SoundGuys:

This would be a nice feature and it’s a bummer this technology that has been available for years won’t be included in the most recent product.

This.
I don't know why I would leave my Beats Fit Pro for these.
I am with you this. I went from PBP to BFP and it was a major step up. Maybe if these PBP2 had insane battery life, the case was very small, the audio was another step forward and the ANC was better than anything on the market - I’d consider them.

After my experience with a pair of $250 Beats Fit Pro and their easily breakable ear "wing" design, I will NEVER buy a Beats product again.

I'm still using mine that I bought in 2019, battery in the right headphone dies quicker now which is understandable. Great product I might consider PBP over AirPods Pro after initial reviews.
