Any news then? Shipping?
My glass is still raised and I'm getting a sore arm.
I gave up on the glass and drank straight from the bottle.:p

I hope they ship soon...they still have one week until the 10 week originally promised.

Hopefully they'll ship within the month. Hopefully.

Here's to being patient *raises gla...staggers out of the room*

The rumour is that Apple is waiting for the latest and fastest G4 Chip from IBM to be installed in the 17PB. If that is the case, I think it's worth the wait. My status remains: "On or before 26 March"....still holding my breath.

Check this out from Loop Rumors

"Good news for those who ordered the 17" PowerBooks. We have received information that the 17" AlBooks will begin shipping in under 2 weeks time, right on schedule. Rumors have been floating around regarding possible delays for the PowerBooks, but those have apparently been incorrect. The AlBooks will begin shipping in less than two weeks to those customers who ordered in early January after the announcement. PowerBooks are available to new customers on Apple's retail website with a lead time of 3-5 weeks, down from the initial 7-10 weeks."

Looks promising...

Any longer wait and I'll run to Steve's house before he goes to work in the morning wearing a yellow gorilla suit beating and thumping my chest and making wierd grunts. I'll say I won't go away until he gets us the PB 17".

Weird

If you remember my previous post earlier about having to wait another 21 days for my pb, something new happened. For reasons that would require me to write another paragraph to explain, I had to cancel my ADC student order and re-order it today. Well, when I re-ordered it today, I now have an OoB date of 4.17. That is strange considering the order was made on 3/13 and the other order (with an OoB date of 4/21) was made on 3/10.

Also, a little loophole for potential buyers of anything. If you select the system online (and do not add any extras to the order like base station, etc.), and then select the extra shipping, the shipping will end up costing you less. Here is what you do. Add items to the order the next day and magically, the cost for faster shipping does not change. I can't really explain why; they guy on the phone said it's just how the system works. But, I did test this by attempting to make a new order and adding all the items at once... twice the shipping amount. When I made my first order the shipping remained at the initial extra cost when ordering the pb alone.

Well Amazon says tomorrow is the release date for the PB 17. Maybe a few will go out, but the rumor sites have all been saying end of month. Who will be the lucky ones to get it first?

I tried buying the 1gig 15" ti from my school (there was smokin' deal where I got it for less than $2k) and they said that apple told them they had a glitch in the system and was not shipping the powerbooks till the 18th or 19th. Then added that apple was going to send them all the new powerbooks they had ordered on that day. Of course this doesn't meen that the 17" was part of the shipment, but I'm tempted to cancel my 15" to get a newer al book.

Anyway, just thought I'd share :).

Well it looks like there will be at least a few 17"PBs floating around in the next couple of weeks, and I'm assuming you guys in the US will get yours before me here in Australia, so....

You've got to promise to put a few pictures up and do a comprehensive 'first impressions' post!!! (not too much to ask is it?)

;)
