yeah, but Jeff collected the money via PayPal donations on the Something Awful forums...

... and the scammer had to pay ~$600 so that's a whole lot worse than $100, at least in my book. :)

I feel a bit let down by the denouement. All the build up with infiltrators and secret cameras, and then just a brick wall with the only satisfaction coming from it looking like the scammer did pay the tax. That was great, but I couldn't follow why they couldn't see the actual package delivery.

Where did the first poster get this quote:
"A forum member arrives at the internet cafe, takes a seat and soon the package arrives. The scammer opens the box and there are angry raised voices heard. The barber doesn't understand what's wrong and asks... "Is it broken?"

That was what made me confused by the actual story.

Not funny

I don't think this was funny at all...

The seller broke SEVERAL laws to scam the scammer back.

I wrote a different perspective on my website about this.

he he. :D

i saw this and couldn't stop laughing at the feature 'Fire Wire'. :D is it just me, or is that somehow really funny?

yeah, that guy took a risk, but that should really make the scammer think twice. now if somehow we could all get together and make all scammers pay like this... ;) :D
