Do you mean a regular Minecraft guide or Minecraft Classic? It would seem fun to play Classic on a PowerPC Mac. The game I would like to see compiled for PowerPC is Assault Cube. This last update they did killed PowerPC compatibility because their Mac coder got rid of his PowerPC Mac. My brother was so close to compiling it but it ended up giving him cryptic errors... I wonder if there are any PowerPC programming geniuses here who can compile the latest version of Assault Cube for PowerPC. I can contact my brother and tell him to send what he has so far.

If AssaultCube still supports 10.5 for Intel then it may be a relatively simple fix. If not then it will require quite a bit of recoding.

It was being a nightmare for my brother. If it was coded for PowerPC again, I'd like to see a Tiger version (in addition to Leopard PPC). There are plenty of Tiger machine out there that are fun to play it on. It's sad that they did this update though... they literally changed a couple minor and unimportant things in the game and at a huge cost.

I've never asked you guys what you would like on the site! I've been wanting to find some more software to add and finish the Tiger section before the end of October and add even more to the Leopard side.

So, start saying names (in a good way) :D Just make sure it is freeware, I would like to avoid shareware programs.

Hey Gavin,

You already have this application on there, but I have noticed that Dropbox does not work when I try it. (G5 w/Leopard) When I try to enter my account in the set-up, it says that I am using an old version of Dropbox and does not let me proceed.

The latest copy of Dropbox supports PowerPC Macs. You can download the newest copy for free from Dropbox themselves.

Hmm, IDK if you have this already, but what about GIMP? I have just downloaded it now for Leopard and will try it out soon. It's almost like an MS Paint of MacOSX, although I have speculation that it's maybe more advanced. Let's see... Okay, so it asks me to find X11. I hope I have it installed.

GIMP 2.6.11 requires X11. It is the final version for Leopard and PPC Macs and also the final version to require X11. Later Intel versions are native. If you want a Microsoft Paint equivalent for the Mac I recommend Paintbrush. It is a free program and is fully PPC compatible (universal binary). GIMP is more of a photo editing program rather than Paint-like program.

Yeah, that should be added to PPC Archives as well. I will try that out in my spare time.

Figured I would give an update. I have today off (Monday) due to staff development day at my high school. I have a list of software to add so my day will be full of locating, testing, and adding all the stuff :D

Wow, discovered an older email from my brother; he had sent me a link for this free screen recording software called "Debut". It's for MacOSX and Windows. I clicked the link and it directed me to their site. I don't know the earliest OS that it can run on, considering the 'download' tab was a direct download and not a page of available downloads. However, I am on my Leopard G5 and the application is fully compatible. I am sure one can find an older version online, if they have Tiger or something/if there IS an older version that was made before Leopard. After testing it, it is pretty full-featured and nifty. You can choose to install extra things like a sound editor and CD/DVD burner application. I do find that it uses WAY more resources than Screenflow and I had low FPS, but it's free and seems well-made, as a good alternative to Screenflow. I found two games on an Applications install disk for iBook
Otto Matic and Deimons Rising
Deimons Rising ran very well on my powermac g3 beige (233Mhz) but Otto Matic could not start
Otto Matic works on my macbook pro in leopard. Very cool game, even though it is from 2001

Edit: I removed links because I found out that these are actually paid apps and this would be pirating xP

Well here are the links to their websites, you have to buy them yourself.

Also theres this really fun game I used to play called Crazy Machines; you may have heard of it. But now a days there is Crazy machines 2 and all that and I cannot find the original Crazy Machines 1. I had a copy on my G4 and I burnt that to disk, but turns out it doesn't work because it needs to be installed by an installer. I don't have that installer, just the app :( The installer was on a CD from a library.

There is Crazy Machines 2 but I don't think it works on PPC. If you can find Crazy Machines 1 in the tangled web then that would be great for your list. I don't know if it is free or not but I got mine for free.

Ah, yes, Otto Matic! I remember playing that years ago with some friends. xD We had good times with that game.

I've have gotton Minecraft (The full one) 1.2.5 running at 20-25 fps on my 1GHZ Powerbook G4 12" with 1.25G RAM, by using the old launcher and optifine (set the fullscreen rendering resolution to 640*480 and everything the lowest, but hey, it's playable :p)

Back in like 2010 when I started playing Minecraft, (around beta 1.7.2) I could run a server on my 2.1Ghz iMac G5, play on that server from the G5, have others online, and not have lag... shows how unnecessarily bloated the game has gotten since then.

If you guys want, I can make a guide on how to achieve this.

The old alpha versions I can't play they run at 0fps and optifine didn't exist back then. But then again, it's a powerbook G4 1GHZ... As for a server, a powermac g5 would be a great server (even for modern minecraft, if only apple made java 6 for mac.) It's quite funny, I can get Java 8 for my raspberry pi, but not for powermac g4. As for soylatte, I got it compiled and installed on my powerbook, but I can't seem to get anything working (It says can't find/run javaw and realized soylatte doesn't have it.) As for everyone, I have solved the video/sound glitch in minecraft on Tiger, upgrade to Leopard :p, no sound/video issues there (I dual boot Tiger and leopard) it seems that leopard's java is better than tiger's.

On the page it says Minimum requirements: Mac os x 10.3

I noticed that sound glitch on Leopard too. Odd that barely any frame rate is achieved in alpha, as even beta wasn't super heavy, at least compared to how it is now. I was using a better, G5 2.1Ghz processor, but with only 1GB RAM in Leopard (slow). Also, running a server on it while playing on the server from the computer was a big leap, which it handled fine, even though my server log constantly said that my RAM was limited or something. Sure, I couldn't play on maxed settings, but it could do more than the minimum settings, and for sure in a playable manner.

On the most recent java for leopard, I notice no sound glitches but I'm using lwjgl 2.6, not 2.7 the latest one for ppc.

I would love to see a PowerPC version of fliqlo! I've seen this other places, but for some reason they are never actually PPC compatible. I know you can make this happen Gavin!

Their website clearly sates that you need Java 7: Note: Our standalone client requires Java 7. If you are on a debian-based linux distribution, you may be able to obtain Java 7 by running the following command in a terminal: sudo apt-get purge openjdk-6-jre-headless openjdk-6-jre && sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre-headless openjdk-7-jre

So, sorry, I don''t think it will work, unless you have leopard and somehow got soylatte working. Then you might need to do some tweaking.

One request for a Game I have, the Original Unreal for Mac, I have gold for windows, but I want on mac and the Macintosh Garden One Is Broken.

A port of Unreal to OSX Intel has been made and one for OSX PPC exists. I would use either of those if you want to enjoy playing the game. I have the original for Classic MacOS and it is every bit as fragile as the comments on any Unreal forum would lead you to believe. It crashed on me on the first level before I had even left the room.
