First 2 are ATT/Tmobile (Same Phones)
Second 2 are VZ/Sprint (Same Phones)
Last 2 are Chinese bands
An ATT or Tmobile one bought "device only" will work on either carrier and with overseas GSM carriers.
A VZ one bought "device only" will work on VZ, ATT or Tmobile and overseas with GSM carriers.
Who knows if the Sprint ones will be locked or not this time.....
It appears only the Tmobile/Unlocked one will be able to be ordered online, but you should be able to walk into the Apple Store on Day one and buy Tmobile, ATT, or VZ "device only." Who knows about Sprint....
If you have Tmobile or ATT, you can preorder the Tmobile one no problem.
If you have VZ, it looks like you can only preorder with a service plan, but maybe it will be different when the store launches on Friday.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I'm up for renewal at ATT on Nov. 2 but want to upgrade now. I'm happy paying full price for an unlocked iPhone - I travel a bit and I want the option to be off of ATT when I travel. The FAQ section from the Apple's Store Webpage says:
When I read that, I assume I can get the no-contract (T-Mobile) phone. When it arrives I yank out that nano SIM and put in the nano SIM from my current iPhone5. It shouldn't affect the 2 months I have remaining on my contract with ATT since I'm not (currently) making any contract changes. Thoughts?
Yes, you are correct. Once you fulfill your contract you can request your current phone be unlocked. Or you could sell it as a locked ATT phone.
