Awesome I get off work at 2 am home by 3 am estd so I get it for sure

What would be a better place to pre-order the phone? At the Verizon store or on Verizon's website? Would I be guaranteed one if I pre-order late afternoon? I'm thinking I should because I live in a small town.

Does anyone know how an authorized user upgrading an account will work? Our account is in my mothers name but I am an authorized user and will be paying for the upgrade, and ordering through apple with my apple account. Will it red flag it because our names do not match? I should also mention it is a personal account with a FAN discount.

I don't understand why everyone is having issues figuring out what time zone is the correct one. Apple does everything via their local time. Apple is located in Cupertino, CA. If you can figure out what time zone that is and what time zone you are in and do a little simple math then you will be all set.

PS Gizmodo is dumb. Why would Apple all of a sudden start using EST? Gizmodo = useless.

Current time zone offset: UTC/GMT -7 hours

3:01 AM EST
7:01 AM GMT

Just in case your clocks are wrong...

Does this help?

I think people are getting confused. It will be midnight in each individual country. In other words just because it's 12.00am PST doesn't mean it will go on for pre-order at 8.00am UK time. Each country is a separate market. In other words it will be 12.00am Thursday night/Friday morning in the US and in the UK. As the US has several time zones obviously there it will depend on where you live. Here in the UK we only have one time zone so it will be the same for everyone.

My confusion stems from the fact that people keep quoting Standard Time when we are currently using Daylight Savings time.

Well that sucks, i have a job and can't stay up till 3am. Guess i will try when I get into the office on Friday.

This is all wrong, they will use AST (Apple Standard Time) which is tied to Steve Job's circadian rhythm. :p

I'm not so sure. That means people like me from the UK or Germany would get to order hours before america, what if we ordered all the stock ? That would make for a lot of happy europeans and an equally large amount of unhappy americans.

I think Apple will flip the switch globally early morning there time.

I'll stay up till 3 or 4am UK time to see if apple have been 'kind'.. if not i'll get back up at 7am or so and try then. This friday is gunna suck, sure will make me tired. Fortunately it's my one day of the week off so i shouldn't complain too much.

.

Don't think they will sell american stock to the uk or anywhere else each country will have a quota of stock available to sell so they should be able to start selling whenever ?

12 am Cali time.. 3 am east cost and 8 am in the uk. It was the same last time why do ppl always think it's 12 am local time in each place

So yes this is correct .. 8 am in the uk

Thanks for the clarification...No news of this yet....

No reservations is a possibility this year. Everyone gets in the same line possibly.

You'll be fine. Don't worry.

Yes it is. The UK is a different market with different stock then the US. As is Japan and every other country. You might want to re-read my post. I said the phones will be available for pre-order in each country at the same time as they are different markets. I'm well aware the US has different time zones as I've lived on both the East and West coast. It's one market with different time zones so people on the East coast will have to stay up later. That doesn't apply to us here in the UK.

It's not all the same stock. Their SKU's are different from ours. For a start their's come with a two pin power adapter. Each country has it's own allocated stock. What's available in the US has nothing to do with what's available here. The same the stock in Germany, Japan etc. Is separate. Each market is separate.

Will be the same time for the carrier sites as well? I dont want to stay up til 3am to order from Verizon and then it not be available...

Carriers work differently since their stock of phones aren't tied to Apple. Apple sends them a predetermined amount and they do what they do from there.
