Can someone tell me about the pre-order process.
I don't have an apple store near me - but I have an AT&T store near me and they said they are doing pre-orders on Friday - do I have to go in the store to pre-order to get my phone from them or can I do it online?

Yep, I was just told the same thing. I was actually hoping for an identical process as last year with the iPhone 4. You were actually able to reserve the phone for in-store pickup and paid for it when you picked it up.
How does the process of renewing your contract work out with them shipping the phone to you? I've always went to the Apple store/ATT so I'm not familiar with it.
Also, not sure if its been mentioned or not, but if you have a cell bill that is due before the 14th I'd make sure it was paid! I want to say I remember peoples order being held last year for past due bills.
Can you preorder from apple's website without starting a new contract? I'm out of contract, and I'm getting $284 for my iPhone 4 from gazelle, so I'm considering paying full price to stay out of contract. I've got unlimited data and a FAN discount, too, and I don't want to mess those up, so maybe it's best to go to AT&T on launch day.

"The iPhone will be coming to Sprint soon, however, we do not yet have a specific date. But we are very excited about it"
"Yes, the iPhone 4S is coming soon for Sprint. We don't have an exact release date for it."
so 100% sure no sprint 4S on oct 7th? You guys said yes earlier...

This will be my first iPhone. My question is, should I preorder from Apple or Verizon? The reason I ask is because my Verizon account shows I am eligible for upgrade pricing plus a $30 loyalty discount. I'm not sure how this discount gets applied to preorders.
I see the same thing on mine! I will probably try Verizon first to see if it actually deducts the 30. I wonder if Apple will honor the 30 when it validates your status for upgrade?

talked to a verizon rep and the 30 dollar loyalty credit only applies if you buy it from verizon!
