I was planning on pre-ordering on the 15th so it hopefully I can get one. I waited in line for 4 hours to get my iPhone 3G on launch day back in 2008 and I really don't want to go through that experience again unless I have to heh. So I'm going to try having it delivered.

Hehe, home delivery FTW!

I'm so tempted for the ease of home delivery, but the idea of walking out of an Apple Store with a bunch of others on launch day with a brand new iPhone 4 just sounds so tempting too... :(

I wanted to get it from apple for the first time. but I need to use my wife's contract but get my number on the sim card so att it is. plus it is far closer.

You have to go to ATT for this?

Im just the opposite. Im wanting to get my wife the new Iphone, but she will have to use my upgrade and get her number on it. So if I preorder from Apple will it come programmed for my number?

No. it is called an Upgrade Swap, it can be done at home, at AT&T or Apple. You just have to agree to the new contract on your line and then you can activate the new Microsim on her line using your equipment upgrade.

Just remember the Microsim can only be activated once, so check back here if you are doing a home activation.

Do apple stores usually open earlier on launch day? I have class at 9 am, but considering my 3G is basically finito, i want my iPhone 4 ASAP.

Or maybe an AT&T store would open earlier on launch?

Also, I hear different things about having to have the primary account holder with you at the Apple Store. I am an authorized user, so should I confirm first w/ the Apple store if the authorized user is required? I didnt have this issue when buying my iPhone 3G from ATT.

Thanks

I have been thinking about this for a while now. I will most likely order it through apple.com. With launch day delivery you can't go wrong.

Just food for thought.....

When the 3GS came out, AT&T let pre-order customers show up at 7 am to fulfill the order. I had mine at 7:30 and headed to the office with a new toy to play with.

Does a couple of hours matter, not to me as for being "first" but it did enable me to get to the office on time.

My friend's and I are going to pre-order it through the Apple Online Store. I like dealing with Apple people much better! I would only decide to do it through AT&T if you had to get a micro-SIM through them anyway. I hope that whole process of getting a micro-sim is really easy- I guess we'll find out around the 15th.

Order through FatWallet.com or Extrabux.com and get 1% cash back. Combine it with a Schwab Visa, and you get an extra 2% cash back. Seems like very little in savings, but every bit adds up. I get a lot of cash back from those sites and the credit card.

That sounds promissing. Hopefully they do the same this year. Where are you located? I'm in NY, and NY is usually on top of things. Anyone else know of when the Apple or AT&T stores open on launch? (Calling a AT&T store may leave me with unanswered questions or idiotic responses.

Hey guys I called two ATT stores in my local area in NC they are not doing instore reserves (meaning you cannot get your phone picked up in the store on June 24th unless you wait in line with no pre-order). I asked what are my options to pick up the phone in the store on June 24th, he said wait in line on June 24th. If you pre-order you can't pick up in store at ATT until June 25th. (that piece is in the media release and the moderator's faq guide). In fact the lady in Jacksonville NC said that even the people that reserved or pre-ordered the Iphone 3gs were not guaranteed to get it on launch day in the store that it was random when they received the phones. Not sure but just passing word that was given to me.
