So I have the iPhone XS Max and I kinda feel dumb for pre order the new iPhone 11 pro as there was not that many upgrades from this to that? Did you guys also upgrade?

- no 120Hz display
- no TouchID on screen
- too heavy (gets heavier every year)
- no 5G
- no USB-C
- no two ways charging
- still the same notch
- no always on lock screen
- no Apple Pencil Support (Pro Create works fine on a 6.5 iPhone)

Cancel it if you don’t want it.

I’m upgrading because I want to go from 5.8” to 6.5” - if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t have bothered.

Idk yet I am going to let it come in and see if I want it or not.

The other side of the house isn’t always better. It could be better for a while, but tbh, you are going to find different issues. I’ve got a Pixel 2 that I use for work. It’s a pretty good phone running Android 10 and it’s a lot better than my previous android phones. The thing that kills it for me is the keyboard. I’ve tried many but i can’t seem to find one that I like. Another thing that still bugs me about android is the input lag. There is this ever so slight input lag compared to iOS. It’s way better than it used to be and yes you do get used to you to an extent, but man, it drives me nuts. As an example, if you scroll slowly, you will notice it take a hair longer to start scrolling and responding if you change direction. Still drives me nuts.

On the flip side to your current predicament, less you need the battery or have a very specific need for the wide angle, I’d say you are better off canceling and sticking with your iPhone XS Max. You aren't Going to get the biggest benefit out of the upgrade. I’m upgrading from a iPhone X and yeah, while i don’t really need to as it’s still going strong, I’d like the extra speediness and camera setup as I usually take our family pictures and those can’t be replaced. I can see using the ultra wide for some great shots.

I don’t feel dumb because I choose what to spend my money on like an adult. I work hard for my money and spend my money how I see fit. That being said, I always make sure I’m getting the most out of my purchases.

I upgrade my phone and my wife’s phone every year. I sell our old phones off, and I use a very good reward credit card to do it all to get some of the money back as well. I end up paying approx $150-250 per phone, per year for our devices after all is said and done. At the end of the day, that’s approx $20/mo for our mobile devices out of pocket. People spend more than that a month or even weekly on sillier things, like coffee or alcohol. Or even non silly things like pets and their food and such.

This is not dumb. You can test first hand. And return it if the promises of the keynote are not met.
I preordered and if the night mode and battery life are not what they said I will return it.

Never feel dumb. You work for your money, spend it how you want. I’m an annual upgrader, every phone since the 3G (I even upgraded from the 7+ to 8+ and then X in the same year). I have a XS Max and I debated going to the 11 Pro Max. But in the end I couldn’t do it. Not enough change for my needs. If you feel like doing it, do it. If not, don’t.

I’m interested as I know you live in the UK, did you have to pay extra to upgrade to the new Pro? Or increase your monthly contract cost?

I should have had to pay £100 upfront cost but they waived it today so I paid £30 upfront

My monthly plan has gone down from £90 a month to £79 due to my work getting 20% discount off monthly plans

So £79 a month for 100GB of data

So Calif
My personal phone is an Xs Max and I am keeping her until 2020 when I hope that 5G will be embedded.

I did upgrade my work 7+ to 11 mainly for the battery life.

I went from an XS Max to a 11 Pro. I wanted the smaller size again and the camera appears to be far better. I also like the new matte finish and midnight green color.

Last year felt like even less of an upgrade from a X to XS Max.

I love to have the newest tech and I have the Xs Max. I just don't see enough in the 11 pro max to justify spending another $1k+ to get a few extra camera features. Plus I use 3D Touch more than most.

Not bad then for an iPhone contract. I see that a lot of them have finally caught up and are now offering unlimited data plans, I’d see if you could get on one of those as some of the MVNO’s like smarty are offering unlimited everything for life for £18.75 a month, it’s a special offer.

188gram for the iPhone 11 Pro. I think I’ll pass. This X is already heavy, makes my pinky finger hurts.

if it comes with 120hz promotion display, then it’s gonna be instant buy for me even though the device is much heavier. It’s worth it.

This reads like a list of everything I'm not fussed about. Besides a smaller notch.

If you feel dumb then it’s your gut telling you, you’ve been dumb. Go with your gut and cancel.

Is it dumb for anyone to upgrade from last year to this, no of course not, if you want to and can afford it and will enjoy your new phone then go for it. But if it’s going to make you feel dumb? It’s probably a mistake.
