We switched to Verizon (right before the new plans) for their unlimited from T-Mobile exactly for this reason (and better coverage in our area).
It's unfortunate that T-Mobile users can't order online and preorder without going into the store

I am a T-Mobile customer who wants to enroll in the iPhone Upgrade Program / IUP and also pre order the phone. I know that we T-Mobile customers have to visit the Apple Store to enroll. However, I read that some people said a reservation in store is possible. Can anyone comment on that? Is it possible for me to make a reservation for a time on pre order day (today) or do I have to go in and just wait in line today to pre order?
So you pre ordered online with the "pay in full" and "pick up in store" options? Will appreciate it if you can let me know if your plan to convert to AIUP works out! TIA
Yep exactly, pre-ordered TMO iPhone 8 Plus at full price with in store pickup. Card hasn't been charged and I'm thinking it won't be charged till pickup. Will report back if this work. From what I've read it should work.
Did you pre-register for the upgrade by getting the loan pre-approved for the new cycle? I'm currently on the IUP and want to preorder the X when it's ready. Wondering if it will be an easy order on that night.
I read that since the X was pushed back those on this program will be making two extra payment and therefore is entitled to a refund via citizen one Is that correct?

Yes, i assume the iphone X pre order will be the same. YOu get pre-approved a few days before, and then the night of, open the Apple Store app at 3:01 am or whatever, and you literally just hit "confirm order." You pick the model and color and everything with your pre-approval days before. Then everything is waiting for you to go, and it literally takes 5 seconds, no joke. It's a small advantage Apple gave IUP customers, but its a bit of an advantage nonetheless.

How did it go yesterday? Any problems on pickup when you paid full price online and asked to sign up for the AIUP?
You are correct. I did have terrible upgrade process experience when I was with T-Mobile in the past.
I had no issue pre ordering the iPhone X. I think most of my problems came from being a first time iUP customer.
If you are trying to enroll in iUP then you could have done a pre order full price and then when picking up the phone tell then you wanted to enroll. They let me return the device and enroll with the same phone. At this point you could still do the same thing or try your luck on the 3rd at an apple store.
