Prediction: iPhone 2.1 - September 1st

If Apple announces an event sometime in September..... it'll come that day and with some new features which Steve'll show off to the media!

<sigh> wish I could be happy with that but I strongly believe that Apple should focus on smoothening the 2.0 first! <sigh>

I'm going to tip my hat and say it (the event) will be sometime around 9/9/08, to coincide with the iPhone 3G being available at Best Buy in the US. As for the next software update, it definitely will NOT be on Sept. 1st.

Er.... the event is being speculated but definitely hasnt been scheduled or confirmed by Apple! So who knows if there will actually be an event in Sept or not! Its Apple we're talking about and SJ is well known for making crazy last minute decisions!

I'm assuming that they don't give a crap about whatever update schedule they are supposedly on, and that they'll release 2.1 when it's ready, and they'll try to make it ready in September. Their mistakes with 2.0 so far won't warrant another mistake with a .x release.
 
Yup, just did a back-up and checked for updates for my 3G iPhone and nothing unusual to report...:( (I'll check in the morning).
 
We only have a day to go to see if anything leaks invite wise for the 9th.

Edit: Just seen the previous dates were Mondays. Gotcha. Could still be the 8th though?

9/9/08 would be my guess too, probably along with Itunes 8.0, since isn't that the day all the new iPods come out (including possibly a new iPod Touch w/GPS)?
 
yea im also going to have to go with sept 9... but if not they said a september release which does mean sept 1-30 so you never know
 
Well who knows. With the last updates they released them in the evenings, so we still have some hours to go.
 
Well we have some time to go before the end of monday, if not my best guess would also be 9/9/08. Happy labor day everyone =).
 
Normally when Apple states something will be in a certain month, they pick a day during the end of the month. Sometimes it even means the next month :rolleyes:. So don't hold your breath for a September 1st release.

Furthermore, even if a new iPod touch with new software features (i.e. 2.1) is announced on a September 9th event, it doesn't have to be available immidiately, nor does the software. Remember last year's event. It was weeks before the new firmware was released.
 
Well considering that today is labor day in the states and that there are no applications or updates in the app store as of right now, I think that 2.1 will not be released today...I would love to be wrong though!

I could see this. I wouldn't mind too much. I would rather they get it right than get it out for some date. Their latest history has proven that approach doesn't work.
 
My money is on the new firmware coming along on the 9th (at the event). It just makes sense that way.
