I bet they will have a 4" screen in their line up. The people in this forum do not represent the general population. There are many people who like their mobile device to be more conspicuous. They don't center their life around a phone.

Yes, it's shocking, but there is more to life than a mobile phone. Just like my ancestor used to say, "there is more to life than an abacus."

true, but they are in the profit margin business. If they sell a ton of 4.7" phone and 5.5" phones they may not want to introduce a third screen size.

They could be trying for this though:

ipad mini
ipad Air
ipad plus (the rumored 12")

iphone mini
iphone Air
iphone plus

I still have both the 6 and 5s which I flip back and forth using either device. I do prefer the comfortability of holding the 5s in one hand over my 6. While I really do like the bigger screen of the 6, I don't really use my device to watch movies or TV shows on it. So while I have gotten used to the bigger form factor of the 6, I would be seriously tempted, if it's offered, the 4" model down the road.

I hate how apple holds back certain features for no reason.

Is there any logical reason you cannot use apple pay with Touch ID for app purchases on the 5s? That does not use NFC and the 5s has Touch ID.

Side note: I actually think it helps being a lefty with apple devices. The swipe to back is used all over the OS, and I can still easily do that 1 handed. I think people who are right handed are struggling more with 1 handed use on the 6. The back button is in the top right which makes you adjust your grip and swiping that far across the screen can be hard.

I'm right-handed, and hold my phone in my left hand. Every other right-handed person I know does the same thing.

Agreed, I don't see Apple going back to a 4" screen anytime soon.

It's not a matter of "going back" but rather offering more options. The argument of having 2 sizes of phone for profit margin doesn't make sense to me at all. It's like a car manufacture offering 2 sizes because those are the one most popular. If they don't offer 4" phones, they are leaving money on the table for other companies to grab. It's as simple as that. We are talking about a very profitable market here. They already have the software, adding a third hardware form factor is a no brainer especially it's the form factor that has been around and they know how it works.

I'm right-handed and hold my phone in my left hand as well.

That makes sense. I am right handed and when I want to drive a nail, I hold the nail in my left hand. When I use the phone two handed, I would hold the phone in my left hand and point with my right hand. Holding the phone doesn't require as much dexterity as clicking, dragging, swiping.

Exactly. :)

I keep my 6+ in my front pocket, and sit down comfortably. But I don't wear skinny jeans I actually wear jeans that fit. ;)

I'm too old for skinny jeans. But it did take a little getting used to, when I went from the 4s to the 5s. There isn't much more room to cram things in there anymore.

Weird, must be the style or brand. I'm a bodybuilder with big legs and like I said no issue with the 6+. But I've had big android phones for years so maybe I'm just more used to it.

Something about the 6 Plus that is just incredible..i just feel like i have the whole world at my finger tips...a big very beautiful into this world, and the way the space gray 6 /6plus in the front looks with the edges sloping off and like the blackness of the front display and just the way it seems to morph into the edges and kind of like consume the whole front of the device is amazing...plus ( no pun intended lmao) i love the battery life, it is absolutely incredibly good and lasts a very long time

I like the 6 design better then the 5S/5 design overall....

One thing I do wish though is that i wished they made a darker model then Space Gray (like the dark slate color from the iPhon 5) , that would look even moreamazing imo..

Yeah the 6 plus may be big but it is obnoxiously big beautiful and turns heads and i have caught people just looking at my phone (and when I had a 6 i remember I had seen a few 6 Pluses in the wild in peoples hands and them using it , and me just going to my self "wow that screen does look really nice and beautiful actually") it actually is one of the reasons why i went from the 6 to the 6 Plus because of envy and also the other obvious (battery life, screen size and res, OIS )

4 in screen

They (Apple) will go where the money is. This is why they decided to go bigger. If there is a trend back towards 4" phones then Apple will release one. With Android phones the sales seem to be with the 4.5" or bigger phones. Look at the Galaxy S line of series which is Samsung's biggest seller, etc. Maybe one day when The Note 17 is a 7" phone and iPhone whatever is released at 6", maybe they'll see an opportunity to release a 4" phone again and it will sell like hotcakes.

Don't really prefer the 5s to the idea of a bigger iPhone. I've had big notes, nexus and lumia 1520. So I tend to like bigger phones. But the 5s is portable and I like the Apple ecosystem. The 6 and 6+ are just so.... Meh. If I only used iPhone in the past I'd be pretty excited by the bigger screen. But hoping the 6S brings quite a bit more bang for the buck. And an extra wish for colors or a couple small design changes to make it look better.

Do you realize that Apple sells more than 100 millions iPhones per year? If 10% of those people wants a 4"phone, we are talking about 10 millions sales. It's a huge profit, trend or not.

Have you taken a poll where there are several choices, and the choices you think are the obvious and everyone should choose end up getting only 70% of the votes and the 30% goes to the choices you think no one should pick?

Well, that what normal variation is. Just because the 4.7 and 5.5 inches screens seems popular to people on this forum doesn't mean 99.9% people want a phone with a 4.7 or 5.5 inches.

Why does people think that adding a 4" screen to the line up is not manageable? Apple has to support the 4" screen currently so the software is already done. It's unlike the move to 4.7" and 5.5".

I also take into account Apple hasn't released a 4.7" or 5.5" phone until now.
Sales of the 6 and 6+ and doing extraordinarily well. I don't see or hear too much backlash from the media or public about the sizes of these phones. This had to be done(to get more of the sales from manufacturers such s Samsung). If the sales dictate there is less demand for these size phones than apple will release a smaller size phone. People do want bigger phones which is why they sell and why Apple decided to make them bigger even though they said 4" is the perfect size. Could Apple decide to release a 6S mini alongside a 6S and 6S+? Absolutely! But I think sales will lean toward the 6S.
