I am a current iPhone 12 Pro owner- having used it as a back up phone for my Galaxy S21 Ultra for a while.
I actually liked everything about the Samsung other than the obvious lack of Apple watch compatibility and not playing nice with Apple devices in general.

I also own the 11” and 12.9” 2021 iPad Pros. Ended up selling the Samsung in the anticipation of a potential upgrade.
As nice as the high refresh rate screen sounds, there is no major reason to consider upgrading- even with the improved cameras and longer battery life. In reality, I should be thanking Apple for not revealing a product that I am compelled to move on to.

Same thing can be said about the S7 Apple Watch...the product that stole the show for me was, without a shadow of a doubt, the redesigned iPad Mini.…

As such, I think I did the right thing in cancelling the upgrade to a 13 Pro Max- anyone else in the same boat?

Once in your hand you will come back and say how wrong you was. See you at next years launch as well.

You have an iPhone 12 (and moments ago a Galaxy 21 Ultra), along with two iPad pro’s. You don’t need a 13.
That said, why consider upgrading from a 12 to a 13 anyways? It’s only been a year.
In all honesty, I would have gladly stuck to the Samsung if it wasn't for Apple's walled garden.

I am now out of contract so I was due an upgrade anyway. There is always next year though!

The only big improvement for me is that variable refresh rate screen, which has been great to have on my ipad.

I suppose I also have to thank Apple for a barebones upgrade to the AW as I have zero itch to upgrade.

Last year, I bought the 12 Pro and ended up returning it in favor of the 12 Mini, because I just do not like the silverware-like look of the frame of the 12 Pro in silver. I usually only change iPhones at major design changes (I've had the Original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPhone 6, iPhone X and now the iPhone 12 mini) so I expected to keep the 12 Mini until there is a serious re-design of the case.

Yet on Friday, against all odds, I preordered the 13 Pro (in graphite this time!) because 1) I wanted the new cameras, which seem much improved and 2) my Mini's battery died at 4pm on the day of the keynote, as if to send me a message.

However, now that the novelty of the keynote is wearing off, I'm considering canceling my pre-order too. Especially as it sounds like the next year might be a more substantial set of upgrades. Also, if we change our minds in a few days/weeks, it doesn't sound like the 13/Pros will be sold out for long, if at all.

It seems like the iPhone 13 is already old and boring before it even released.
Great. Then for you apple tech this year is done. I would distract myself with other things like your friends, family, and other hobbies. No need to add cloudiness to others excitement In this forum. And yes of course you’re free to express whatever you like but I am free to counter it.

You have last years IPhone, of course the upgrade won’t be huge for you.

I love both Samsung and Apple (Apple would have my heart if I could schedule text messages out of the box) - but my Galaxy s10 didn’t play with my 12.9” iPad Pro very well so I went to an XS Max. Upgrading to the Pro Max 13 this year.

If I had the 12, I wouldn’t be upgrading for a year or two yet.

In saying that, there’s nothing wrong with my XS Max - still runs beautifully! The only reason that I’m upgrading is because my daughter will be getting her first phone this year, which means I get the upgrade and she gets the hand me down.

I use a 12 mini and if I was going by your motive 2) I would need to be ordering a new iPhone every single night. Instead, I just plug it in, the old-fashioned way. 😉

I think you made a wise decision. I am actually disappointed in Apple for the first time ever. I think their new devices lack anything that could make me want to move from me 12PM. Let’s not even talk watches. I wanted a new watch this year. But I have a series 5 and am sticking with it for another year.

Sorry Apple no money from me this year!!!

Great minds think alike!
