Hi All,

First time preorderer but long time Apple user.

Planning on ordering the iP5 through ATT tonight, but wanted to know what information I need (i'm on a family plan and I don't think my pops would enjoy being woken up at 2am) in order to place the order. I called the local Apple Retail but the snot who answered didn't know anything.

I'm assuming I need the account number and the telephone number. Anything else? Also, is there a way to check if there is a passcode/PIN associated with the account (aside from the last 4 of the account owner)?

Thanks all! Looking forward to this.

Wow, this is easy. Go here and check your status. It will indicate what you need to pre-order concerning any PIN / passcode.

I was going to go with SPrint, but after finding out that it won't support even Wimax i'm going to pass. LTE is coming around me, but I don't know how far it will reach from the city to the burbs.

AT&T is all reliable and I will stick with them. We will continue our journey for the time being. I upped the data on our plan, so I shouldn't have to worry about overages.

Found the answer guys

there is not a time listed on their website but then again apple is not listing a time nor have they officially confirmed 12:01 either.

however after making a call to customer service they will tell you in fact it's tomorrow at 9am est..wish someone else would call to verify

if you really just did make a phone call i stand corrected and was giving wrong info. again i am buying through apple but don't want anyone to get mislead
I just called 611 (CS) and asked about my plan. the rep i spoke with said it goes on sale at 12:01 EST.

To clarify, my question is whether you have ever ordered the iPhone contract free from AT&T's site as a pre-order.
Thanks I misunderstood your question.

I have no reason to order contract free from AT&T. The highly favorable rate I get on my lines with unlimited everything cannot be met much less beaten by any other carrier for one.

Second I receive such stellar coverage, call quality, customer service & consistency, AT&T is my carrier of choice.

I also use Verizon & they're good, since I'm lucky to live in an area where both carriers are strong. Yet the downside to Verizon is my discount is not as deep as that of AT&T.

Second, the CDMA system cannot pass data & voice concurrently like AT&Ts superior GSM technology.

I agree with those who go contract free if it saves them money, or meets their preferences in other ways.

Fortunately I've managed to negotiate a mutually beneficial long term contract with AT&T.

Remember, if you're determined, patient, courteous & prepared to sell your value as a loyal, trouble free customer, nearly _everything_ is negotiable. :)

I'll find out soon enough, but I'm guessing (s)he's off by 120 minutes. I think it goes on sale at 3:01 EDT (2:01 EST).

Ordered from AT&T online last year after apple.com was having issues. About 12:30 pt I was done. My phone arrived on launch day, one week later.

A cant imagine this year will be any different.
