That's a pressure mark. Apple might not cover it, my iPhone had one of those and they wouldn't swap it. It was a lot bigger than that too.

If we're talking about a pressure mark right after unboxing, it shouldn't be a problem. If this was a month later I might agree. The OP can just ask to return it if necessary.

Yeah, good luck finding another one unless your local store has a bunch.

Haha, yes I know. I'm waiting on my shipment now. Just return it and get cash back. Waiting sucks, but what would you rather do. Wait a week or two for a new one or be stuck with a defective one forever?

K, thanks. Have never had to deal with dead pixels or any pressure marks of such sort with Apple computers. Looks like some chinese kid was being a little too aggressive when putting the display together for this one.

Just as reference, dead pixels are usually dead ;) ie they don't power up or stay one color even when you're trying to make it show a different color.

Did you do cash back or the Apple Store gift card? They had to mail me money.

My local store has been receiving shipments of 4-5 every afternoon. So i'm sure if they don't have one tomorrow they'll have one for early next week.

yeah, makes sense:eek:. Just saw an imperfection and figured it was probably some sort of pixel issue.

Those aren't dead pixels, looks like a pressure mark to me.

If you change the color of the background, do those pixels change color as well or does it stay white? If it changes colors but looks like it's pressed in then yeah that's a pressure mark.

With that said there have already been several people saying they noticed that issue on theirs so you shouldn't have an issue getting it replaced.

If they say they'll fix it, I'd just return it and then buy a new one.

Got a replacement, once again I took the last one they had in stock....:D

WTF man where in the hell do you live? I've been calling every day for 12 days so far and can't even get one :(

I saw one of these light circles on a screen at Apple store and wondered what it was - now I know. I also had one on my first-gen iPad that I never bothered with.

Ugh. Just got mine after waiting three weeks and how lovely to see this...

How is this one?

Perfect!! The display is just more sensitive than previous MBP displays and the box is poorly packaged. No foam under the rMBP box cover to protect it. I suspect this may be a reason why some rMBP are coming with pressure marks and dead pixels.

Thanks , I have a replacement on my build to order for the exact same problem as you. Just hoping my new one is perfect. :)

Unfortunately mine has a pretty noticeable one as well right out of the box.

As a BTO nothing I can do but get it replaced by mail.

Ugh. Well I took it to the apple store and got a refund. Guess I will just have to wait 3-4 weeks for a new one.

I'm not sure they can even replace screens on the retina models.

When i say screen replacement they replaced the whole lid, which is exactly the same on a retina, except the retina screen and lid are now 1.

p.s my old issue was the webcam not working, but they replaced the whole lid because thats how apple work.

Well it's too late anyways. I already took it back. I think I may just get a maxed 13" air :-/

just noticed this thread as well.

I have the mark on my mac book retina.

Wonder how so many of these defects are getting out.

So. You make a thread about how you're angry over the fact that you think your machine has dead pixels and then post this:

Seriously?!?!? If everyone went searching for a dead pixel out of 5 million with a microscope....Apple would be replacing millions of these units.

Return it if you want but don't expect Apple to give you a replacement each time you find 1 dead pixel out of 5 million.

Deal with it, life isn't always fair!!

in someone else's thread about having dead pixels?

Umm, at first I thought I had dead pixels, but instead it was a pressure mark. Clearly visible by the naked eye. That thread was concerning a guy who used a microscope to find 4 single dead pixels. Check his pictures and compare it to mine.

I'm sure if I had 4 dead pixels out of 5 million that were not visible unless i used a microscope...I probably wouldn't care.

Regardless, he said they are "surprisingly visible" from a normal distance.

Well, I guess that's my fault, because from the pictures he posted. They were all ridiculously close shots which further had to be zoomed in to see the dead pixel.
