Noticed that a couple of big resellers are showing the 2016 MacBook at basically MSRP. They have pulled any sale offers. Also, on Swappa, the prices are trending up, not down. So sales must be very strong for these products. I was thinking about swapping my 2014 rMBP for one of these, but now I'll wait and see what the 2017 model looks like.

Update: I caved. I checked what they looked and felt like in the mall store and this morning I ordered a refurb M5 in space gray and saved $240. I'm weak. Now I have to get rid of my 2014 13 inch rMBP.

Seem like the best deals are on 2015 rMB's. Going for $700-750 on eBay, Swappa, and even less on Craig's.

I will say this, the 2016 rMB is the best Apple Product I have owned, and I've owned a lot.

It performs way better than its specifications and it is a joy to carry around and use. I waited until the release of the new MBPs before deciding to get it, when I picked it up at the Apple store, the employee said, "it's weird, a lot of people are ordering this now."

I managed to pick up a space grey base model for $914 on eBay with plenty of warranty left and only 8 battery cycles on it. So far it is also my favorite Mac by far.

Prices typically don't start dropping until the next iteration is imminent, I imagine by March/April 2017 they will be around $780-$850 or so in good shape on eBay and Craigslist.

I also agree this is an amazing product ... best portable laptop I've ever owned.

Makes my MBP feel like this

I agree! Love my 2016 rMB. It makes me realize how little I used all of those ports on my 2011 13" MBP -- and I love how light it is!

Complete agree. I literally carry every cable and dongle known to man in my daily ruck sack buy rarely use them. The portability of the rMB is brilliant.

I also got one right after the new TB MBP were released. Gave my old 13" MBP to my partner who wasn't sold on the touch bars and replaced it with a 12" rmb. I guess a few people went this route as well.

I've been considering one. I have a 2012 MBP that I bought new that has held its own. (I got the 2.9GHz i7, maxed the ram at 16GB, and have a speedy SSD in it.)

Even though it is the 13.3" (which has, historically, been my favorite form factor...it seems like such a big pig as of late.

I had a mini Air a few years ago. While I loved the size, I did not like the low screen resolution, nor the poor battery life.

The rMB seems like it would really fit the bill.

Anybody thinking of getting one should jump on that. Mere mortals can almost afford them at that price.

I'm thinking about it even though I have the 2015 base model. Man, I'm really wrestling with it.

Absolutely. $300 off makes it a no brainer. Pull the trigger, and if it's not your thing you can always return it.

Wow after seeing this I am really mad I jumped on a best buy open box a month ago!

However, it was certified excellent and only had 9 charge cycles so it was basically brand new.

If anyone is on the fence this is an excellent deal. $300 off is the best you are going to do brand new.

If you are worried about a revamp in Spring, keep it in pristine condition and sell on CL or Letgo, macs hold great value.

Still within the time frame of being able to take it back and buy a new one? I know that Target had extended return dates with the holidays. What about Best Buy?

The rmb is a second rev product now and even if there is a refresh the machine is already for prime time. So if it is on sale I wouldn't wait.

I believe I can but this is my only machine and I really enjoy it so I have no reason to return it and wait a few months for a revision.

i returned my 2016 mbp and got the macbook 12 instead. Love it.

This is reassuring to hear for me at least. I was on the fence with the rMBP vs rMB. I went this route because of my uses and the money of course and I am glad I did. Even though the slimmed down the rMBP, I feel this rMB is still way better portability wise.

Anyone ever buy macbook from bestbuy.com

Does it come factory sealed in Apple box or in best buy packaging ?

I'm going to buy the $1299 version and prefer online since I do not trust my local store reshrink wrapping Apple stuff.

Also, any chance it comes with Sierra or old stock?

Just snagged an OB m3 in space gray for $899 at one of my local stores. Had a $10 gift card emailed randomly to me from BB yesterday and had $22 left on a gift card from Christmas. $869 pre-tax for this machine is DOPE. Wanted the M5 with 512GB of storage, but no stores within 250 miles of me had one and there's not that big of a difference in performance between the m3 and m5 as initially expected.
