When there is tb-esata dongle for <$50, I'll get interested in tb...
While USB 3.0 may align with the goals of most people, Apple doesn't necessarily try to sell to the majority. They target a wealthier more educated demographic. One that thinks differently. Even if it's a bunch of BS, it seems to be working for them.
Oops, I overstated. Macbook with tb needs also at least fullHD matte screen, before I'm willing to pay for it...But even that could be over-priced.
(since a dual-port 6 Gbps eSATA PM-enabled PCIe hardware RAID 0/1/5 controller is only $45)
Also 95% of tb users will use tb just for display and/or storage, which would both be more efficiently handled by dp & esata.USB 3.0 is going to co exist with Thunderbolt on macs, because the industry standard will be USB 3.0 for 95% of devices, while TB will be like FW and find a niche.

If just someone calculated their probability of existence to over 0.5, maybe they started to appear...it has been 1,5 years and the stores are filled with usb3 devices while TB devices are as common as unicorns
