I'm still torn between the two machines. Each has its advantages. I've decided on a 256Gb SSD no matter what model I get.
From my perspective, this is the way I see things:
rMBP advantages
- Slightly cheaper than a MBP (with the specific config I want)
- Stunning display
- Overall smaller form factor + lighter than a MBP
- 16 Gb possible in BTO (no screwdriver necessary)
MBP advantages
- Easy to upgrade. I can upgrade the RAM, HD, and swap out the DVD
- Integrated ethernet and DVD drive (could still be useful)
- Available immediately (2-4 days wait)
- Proven design, no glitches
- Matte screen available in BTO
Currently I'm edging slightly towards the MBP. The possibility of adding an SSD drive later (when cheaper) is still very appealing to me. I just can't help it, I've always liked to mod my own stuff.
