Well, I hadn't realized there were issues with Airprint Activator. I have it installed on my Mac mini, sharing my networked HP printer. I just sent an e-mail to it and it printed just fine.

iOS5.0.1

That's great if it's still working for you! Mine stopped working thru my PC after I upgraded to iOS 5.0 on both my iPhone and iPad.

Are you running Lion?

Fingerprint is nice but I need a solution for when I am at work (PC/Mac) and at home (PC).
They want me to buy a copy for every PC I need to share a printer from.
I'd rather buy a one time app that activates to my phone instead.
Tricky to do since you need something to act as an intermediary between your device and the printer.

True, but then come up with a solution that works with the issues I have.

Like, give me 5 activations with my account.
Let me use them on either Mac or Windows.

Down loaded and installed Lion last night. Had to reinstall Airprint Activator this morning, but I just printed a 3 page web page from my iPad without issue.

Cool, I'll have to try it again.

I picked up an HP office jet 8500A Plus a few months ago because it was AirPrint capable.

Pretty nice office inkjet and scanner, with the added benefit of *true* smtp scan to email. Many of the scan to email solutions on all in one products have used a LAN computer and mail program as a pass through.

It's very nice to print from our iOS devices, and we print from the iPad quite a lot.

Problems

You will find the best way to print from an IPad is to buy a new printer with AirPrint. There are many out there now and they can be had for around $80 bucks. Otherwise with most apps you have to email the file to yourself and print it from there, if you have a wireless printer hooked up to your wifi. No wireless printer on your wifi network? Don't know what you do unless your friend has a wireless printer with an email address so you can send it to his printer.

Another example of problems with what could be a fantastic device. IPad's are not a business type computer, they are centered around media and intertainment. Great for watching Netflix in bed, but not a total replacement for your laptop.

AirPrint is nice but I wish there was some more options when printing such as double sided printing etc for printers which support it.

what do you guys usually print off your ipads/iphones?

I print shopping lists, wiring diagrams for the cars I'm working on, quotes from vendors, assembly diagrams ... the same kinds of things I print from the computer.
