It’s no different then how it works now, just a different location.I wonder how the will avoid burn-in. Or maybe burn-in doesn’t matter too much if that space is only ever being used for those binary indicators.
Can't say if you are just trolling or if you actually mean it 😄 I hope it's not the latter, because that would be quite sad.Maybe it just muscle memory kicking in, but now that the calendar has flipped over to September, I’m pretty freaking pumped.
Tonight kicks it all off proper with the first of a four-night run at Dick’s with Phish. I return from that adventure to a keynote. Then pre-order. Then delivery. Then my birthday.
Best. Month. Ever.
More like step backwards, because "the pill" is more down than the classic notch and thus it grabs more of the usable vertical display space than the notch we have now. So it's more like a downgrade. It's more visible and grabs more of the display. This is necessary progress. It’s a step toward nothing being there at all.
It’s different because, as this article states, the indicators will be brighter than the rest of the display, which is currently not the case. In addition, the background will be black, which currently is also usually not the case. It’s no different then how it works now, just a different location.
Apologies, yes, I forgot to mention earlier, that's only on the lock screen.I think it might be just on the Lock Screen. I could be wrong though, I'm not on the beta. But yeah, notifications at the bottom would be really weird.
I'm confused, people here keep repeating this as if it's an undisputed fact. Have people seen the actual device/display dimensions? If so where? Please share with us.More like step backwards, because "the pill" is more down than the classic notch and thus it grabs more of the usable vertical display space than the notch we have now. Thats one of the things I missed about Android, you could customize the notification lights on the front and back camera. It's nice seeing what's going on before you even pick up your phone.I hope that they expand this particular function into optical notification rings.
Since they serve security/privacy functions, nothing below the platform should be able to configure their behavior.Who am I kidding, Apple would never allow us to tinker with the led lights! 😂
Amen. Now that is a great idea! Brings back memories of Android's old front notification light.
And family members will call 911 because they think you are being shot by bad guys.It will be so high powered that when you FaceTime with someone they will think you have a sniper laser on your forehead.
That would be awesome! I'd buy it for that feature. How bright I wonder. Am I going to be bathed in a green haze when taking a selfie now?
What if the portion between the pill and hole are not covered by the display and they are instead hardware lights for camera and microphone similar to how it is on the Mac
That would be preferable because using the display could make the notification “lights” prone to software glitches. What if the portion between the pill and hole are not covered by the display and they are instead hardware lights for camera and microphone similar to how it is on the Mac
