It's beyond me how anyone would spend the extra dollars to own a mac and then wonder if contributing to this site is worth it. The resources available to me here are worth so much more than the peanuts I contributed. And the mods do an excellent job of organizing and monitoring; I can't imagine how much time and talent goes in to keeping it running so well.

On the other hand, if you really don't have much money, but have time to contribute by posting and helping out others, then good for you, that's appreciated very much as well.:apple:

I do that.
Also, by looking at my signature, you could tell why I couldn't afford to pay.

The thing that makes me hesitate is I never spend money on 'impulse' - I think I've made two 'impulse' purchases (or whatever you call them) in my whole life. This is just something I've hit on the last few days, so as is typical of my persona, I have to chew on it for a bit more yet.

Oh, but that eternal question: Demi-God or Contributor, Contributor or Demi-God. Oh, which has more pomp and respect? :D

eh, I'll get there in the end. :) Many thanks all who posted to answer my question.

Then I would suggest that you only contribute if you want to support MR and you are comfortable donating your funds.

I will say Contributor because it shows that you are contributing to the site. Demi-God could be just a regular ranking.

Actually I meant that as a joke, but thanks for your feedback nonetheless :) I like Contributor since it has reference to doing something useful and helpful. It says something about your character methinks.

its not though, and says so in the faq.

whichever. doesn't really matter and all means the same in the end.

I just contributed, private forums are nothing too special, but I'm still glad I contributed, u get more respect. :D

BTW: Where the heck is mad jew? He hasn't been on in 1.5 months!

I don't really spend much time on the Private forums - just the occasional post, but that's not why I contributed. MR is worth supporting IMHO.

but everyone ought to have at least some financial reserves for emergencies, e.g., an iPod that needs a new battery or similar life-and-death situations....
Only 13 years and a small number of days until WildCowBaby becomes WildCowTeen and can join MacRumors. :)

You're quite the comedian. :)

I thought I'd cough up the $25 for a forum that has brought me a lot of entertainment. As of a few minutes ago, I'm a Demi God :)

well I know but I didn't think he did... at least not for almost 2 months. that really going to hurt his PPD* Average

*Posts per Day

Not really, considering the average is calculated across the whole of a user's time on the site, i.e. it's not a moving average.

I think that's right.

EDIT: Whoa, just found this:
MacRumors: $85 million.Blog knows more about Apple than Apple management does. It ranks No. 2,700 in Alexa. Compete shows 544,000 visitors and moving up quickly. Quantcast puts global unique visitors at 5.3 million. Page views at 33 million, which seems a bit high. Advertising looks high-end and solid, probably at least $30 per page CPM. Business should do at least $12 million and have a high margin, estimated at 60%. At a 12x multiple.
