Nope. Not that they can't use it in cases, but it's falls short of ideal on multiple fronts.
Whether it truly matches other reference monitors, that is the market it is aimed at and the price reflects that. The more feature rich reference monitors are much more expensive. This is not really a consumer monitor.

What I'd want to see is parts price dropping to ~$1k so a iMac 32" 6K M5 base model that starts as little as $1.8k is possible.

Are there any semi-believable rumors about a Studio Display 2 yet? If not, does that imply there won't be one for at least another two to three years?

Would make sense to release a refresh/new iteration when M4 Studios/Pros arrives. Thunderbolt 5. Would also be fair to assume that they drop USB A on M4 Studios. Would be kind of surprised if they stick to the present displays.

Will "Quantum" replace "Super" ..... such as "I'm quantum excited to be able to demonstrate this new feature to you"
I don`t really care what they call these things - CfreeQled or whatever. What`s interesting is if they will be implementing the tech and if so, that turns out to be a useful improvement. Various brands have used tradenames for commonly available stuff to get an advantage like forever. Like "Laptop", teflon or plexi.

The tech works pretty well for TVs.

I think the latest rumor was that it will be 90Hz :))
That sounds like OLED not QLED
Example

In a press release, Samsung said it will manufacture “very large quantities” of its 14-inch, 90Hz OLED displays. It says that the OLED displays can reportedly outperform any LCD screen that uses the same refresh rate. Samsung Display's screen tests revealed that its 90Hz OLED displays show minimal screen smearing, making its performance on par with LCD screens with a higher 120Hz refresh rate. In fact, the refresh rate of the OLED displays is said to be 10 times faster than most displays currently available. Samsung is prepping to dispatch its new OLED displays to numerous laptops and notebooks as early as March.

You can combine both: "I'm so excited to demonstrate this new feature, I'm in a quantum superposition!"

Five years seems about the right lifecycle for a display. Maybe that's wishful thinking though. I really hope they update this along with the Studio Display in 2025.
