Anyone faced the same issues/flicker/artifacts or whatever its called on the Pro XDR Display... See videos.

Issues as there with the M1 Mac mini and now the the new 14" MBP...

Its there on various resolutions

AND its out of warranty ?

I haven't contacted Apple... yet...

Have you tried a different Thunderbolt cable?
Yes... Same issue...

I tried an "old" Mac... My 2019 Mac Pro.

No issues... works perfectly

???

Seems to be an issue with M1 Macs... will investigate more

Used the Mac Pro for a few hours... updated it to Monterey.

Zero issues

Plugged the Pro XDR to the new M1 Max MBP... same issues again.

Again... this issue was also present on the M1 Mac mini.

I THINK I solved the issue... Just disconnected all the cables... including power cable.

Left it disconnected for around... maybe 10 minutes... connected everything back again and everything is fine now.

Lets hope this solves the issue ??

I guess it needed to be shut off and disconnected completely... so far its working perfect.

Its one of these things you can never explain... it worked fine with the Mac Pro but not the M1 Macs ?‍♂️

After above "procedure"... it works fine now

I have no XDR issues with 2021 M1 Max Pro using an XDR plus a LG Ultra fine 5k. Are you using a thunderbolt hub by any chance - read some hubs have issues.

I hope this gets resolved soon.

Reading this (and other issues some were having) scared me off ordering one. At that price, it would kill me if it wasn’t perfect.

Ordered an LG UltraFine 5K last night. I hope it’s as good as most of the reviews say.

You should read the LG ultrafine 5K owners thread. It is not a trouble free product and many report that LG service and support is far from optimal. Great when they work. When you get yours check for ghosting, image retention, and vertical lines while still within the return period. The XDR is in another league. It has been superb. I have no issues. Apple stands behind it, and I got Applecare for it. It is expensive but a joy to use.

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, I’ve read through some of the LG owners thread. I know the LG is not perfect but at one fifth the price, it’s an easier pill to swallow. As I’m hoping to open a studio soon, I may still pull the trigger on the XDR but that won’t be for a few months. This also gives me time to see if Apple release an updated or more affordable model next year.

I thought I got AppleCare+ with my Pro XDR... But when I checked the serial number... nope.

Seems that I forgot to do it.

And yes... I agree... the Pro XDR is supremely better. HDR content on it is just EPIC.

Moreover, I can't use standard non glossy displays anymore... thanks to years of being an iMac user.

I am typing this and the issue is gone... can't diagnose the reason for it.

If anyone will buy the Pro XDR... Just get AppleCare+ too.

Any update on your issue. Hopefully it is resolved for you. Curious to hear how Apple takes care of you on an out-of-warranty issue.

The issue is gone for now... I didn't report to Apple as its not visible now and I can't replicate it.

Maybe it was a cable issue... just needed to unplug and replug stuff. It was a weird issue.

Will keep you all update if it happens again.

Latest status on this... issue just comes and goes... As seen in video below.

Will wait for next update of MacOS... maybe its a software issue.

Will also contact Apple for advice...

I THINK I have sorted out the issue... bought a new Thunderbolt 3 Pro cable from Apple. Seems to have solved the issue. Apple Store advised me to bring the display if issues persist.

Fingers crossed this solves this matter once and for all...

Will update if issue comes back.

The issue is back...

Funny thing is that opening a new tab in Safari for example clears the issue on the new tab... but it stays on the old tab ?

Needs further investigation... Maybe its not the display at all...

Sorry to hear that. You might have an issue with the machine. Have you seen this issue with any other Mac? Do you have another USB-C or Thunderbolt Mac that you can test with that can drive full 6K and 10 bit?
