Tried everything... different cables... different resolutions...

Will keep testing.

Local Apple store asked me to bring it in... they never heard of such issue before.

They expect, as I do, that a display at this price should work flawlessly.

I am seeing if there are any means to re-apply the latest firmware... its currently at 4.2.37

Will keep everyone posted...

Yes but did you try a different Mac. What I'm getting at is that it could be the computer...not the display.

Yes... issue was with the "old" M1 Mac mini I had and now the new 14" MBP.
Interesting. Definitely get the display replaced in that case. I have 3 of these displays and I even drive them with the Corning Thunderbolt fiber cable and have never had any issues like this.

Live demo ???

Interesting how it can be triggered on and off... in a way...

Will try to grab another Mac and try it... or boot a fresh copy of MacOS... or test in Safe Mode.

Since the I migrated my setup from old to new system... maybe I migrated the issue with it.

I’m not an expert but I’m certain it’s the display if you have tried different computers and cables. I hope they take care of you and don’t try to charge you some crazy amount for the repair. I also hope they give you a loaner monitor while it’s left there or mailed away for repair.

Connected the 2019 Mac Pro now... with AMD Radeon Pro W5700X

Will test it for a few days

Somebody else recently had very similar display issues with their M1 Max/Pro but with their laptop display.

The flicking artefact was near identical. I believe the outcome of that thread was that apple took the machine back as they thought the M1 gpu had a defect.

It may be worth you having a quick search to find the thread

Latest update... the Mac Pro has exhibited the same issue for me.

So its not an M1 Macs issue... for me at least.

Maybe its a bug in MacOS... Maybe I can run the beta version of MacOS on this Mac Pro to check.

Will see ?

Running MacOS 12.1 Beta (21C5039b) on Mac Pro... so far no issues...

Hope MacOS 12.1 fixes this...

I am updating about this cause writing about it triggers the issue ?

Are you still having issues with your new MBP and Apple Pro display? I'm about to pull the trigger on one of those and I would like to know if there is any kind of issues with M1 Pro/Max laptops

Still... issue is there

Like I said... I will give this a chance until MacOS 12.1 on the MBP

If it doesn't fix it... then I will log issue with Apple and ask them for a solution

Testing with MacOS 12.1 (21C51) RC on M1 Max 14" MBP...

Hope this solves this issue... will report back

My XDR died today. I had been seeing issues with the display coming up when connected to my 2021 M1 MBP, and then today the whole screen went blue. After that it went black and wouldn't come back up. Took in to the store, so hopefully they turn it around in the 2 days they quoted.

Back to this tiny 27" LG 5K monitor for the time being. :p
