I'm not sure about Apple Music, but all of my Spotify playlists are downloaded for offline listening. That also cuts down on data usage

You can download on Apple Music as well

I primarily use Apple Music for my streaming needs. I go back and forth between AM and Spotify though. I have not purchased a song/album in over two years.
