Problem with Canon CanoScan LIDE 50 driver

I found a driver page at Canon that say's no online drivers available - I must use the drivers that come with the disc. But of course - therein lies the rub.

I cannot access the driver by itself from the disc either........

Which model scanner are you referring to. It's possible that the installer is a PPC version only unable to run on Mav?
