Hello,

Everything was working fine until 2 days ago that Mail cannot connect to Godaddy's email server. I can send emails through the SMTP but can't get any emails in through the POP.SECURESERVER.NET. I called Godaddy but everything is ok in their end... it's something in my computer.

I opened Mail Connection Doctor and this is what I get

mail.jpg

Everything in my settings is correct.. the password and everything but still can't download my emails. Is there any other setting I need to work with?..

Any help would be great!!!

GD has had intermittent email outages for the past two days, still continuing at this writing. Check on their Twitter site or downdetector for updates - I've given up on them for the rest of the day.

@Sdahe,

I am with GoDaddy and came across your post.

Are you still running into this issue? As of this time, we have resolved the email issues we had with our POP and IMAP email plans.

If you are still running into this issue, please let me know, there may be more to the issue you are experiencing and I would be happy to connect with you directly to address the issue.

I am having the same issue after OS X 11.1 update. Any idea what is going on. My iPhone and iPad get the email all day long. The following is what I get

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “XXX@XXX.com” or try again.

The server returned the error: POP user name “XXX@XXX,com” unrecognized

I am having the exact same problem... please help! I updated to El Capitan las week. Mistake, apparently.

Since then, it has given me a connection error on my go daddy pop account, but it still worked - I did get my mail. Now, as of this afternoon, it's not working at all with apple Mail. Works find on my phone and iPad, but not desktop. F'd up.

After some more research, I find the fix.. Uncheck the following 2 boxes and all is working under advanced. Only need that for pop.secureserver.net, not other accounts. They are all fine with that 2 checked, like gmail, hot mail, etc.
1) Automatically detect and maintain account settings
2) include when automatically checking for new messages

Thanks! Step 1 worked for one of my accounts. Step 2 was not necessary. For the rest of my accounts, I had to check the box that said, "Allow insecure authentications".

Having the exact same issue. Have you found a resolution? GoDaddy says it's Apple. Apple says it's GoDaddy.

@GDKen

Please help if you can. I am getting nowhere with GoDaddy nor Apple.
I've deleted the email account on my mac and in trying to create it again, I get an error message Unable to verify account name or password." The account name and password are absolutely correct though. I can login to webmail just fine and the godaddy app on my phone is working fine.

I have two other mail accounts on my mac that are working fine.

Many, many thanks! Two of us at work were having the same problems. This seems to be working. Fingers crossed!

After updating my Mac OS to El Capitan, my Go Daddy POP email account would no longer receive mail on my desktop computer with Apple Mail. I called Go Daddy tech-support and they directed me to this website for instructions on how to remedy the problem. It fixed the problem immediately:

+1 for This. Both my brother and I are getting the same thing.

Error message is "Trying to log in to this POP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct."

Nothing has changed, it just stopped working about 2-3 days ago for no reason. No settings are changed.
The this is we can check the email accounts from mobile from devices, tablets, the webmail, but nothing on El Capitan email program. It still works under Snow Leopard.

@GDKen, have you got a solution? Has a certificate expired and is silently failing?

Either way, the emails aren't downloading...

SMPT outgoing is still working fine.

Have never had any problems like this until now.

I tried this and it finally worked:

Unselected the box “Automatically detect and maintain account settings” on the advanced page of the accounts settings in preferences AND selected SSL port 995 it worked.

I am having this exact same issue.

I'm reading a lot about macs having trouble running the default email program.

Why not just download a 3rd party app instead?

I have multiple emails and was told by Apple if I'm running more than one email it tends to glitch.

Also wouldn't a 3rd party be better because the email data would be stored on their server rather than taking up space on the computer.

I use gmail app and I can stay logged into my multiple accounts all at once.

I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to find a app that would sync multiple different types of email account if you're using more than one brand email.

Ken, I am still having this problem, after trying the fixes you noted. My situation:
- Using Mac Mail
- Upgraded to El Capitan on Oct. 26
- All worked fine until Nov. 6. At that point, the two POP accounts I have at GoDaddy stopped working. SMTP still works fine.
- POP accounts I have at other hosting companies still work fine, no glitches, so I think it's something at GoDadday.
- I spent 24 minutes on the phone this PM with GoDaddy tech support person Wesley. He told me that El Capitan no longer supports POP accounts and I would have to upgrade to IMAP at additional cost. That is clearly NOT the case, since POP at GoDaddy worked fine on El Capitan for 10 days before failing, and it continues to work OK at other hosting companies.
- I tried the suggestions above (Unchecking "Automatically detect and maintain account settings;" "Include when automatically checking for new messages;" and "Allow insecure authentication"), but am still having the problem: Cannot receive email on my POP accounts at GoDaddy, though POP works fine elsewhere.

Please, so you have any other suggestions to try? Thanks!

I don't have my Mac yet but I will in a few days. If you search go daddy email I'm sure there would be a app where you can receive your emails and check domain settings. I know forsure there is a app that does this on the iPhone.

Or forward your old email to a gmail account then tell everyone your changing your email.

starbright01: thanks for the reply, but that doesn't solve my problem. GoDaddy has a web-based email service that they call Workdesk. I can see my emails there, no prob. But I need them to work in Mac Mail on my MacBook, like they used to until this problem started on Nov. 6.

I understand that but wouldn't the godaddy app do the same thing if you they have it in the Mac Apple Store. I think the default mail is crap lol.

OK, this is now fixed: For GoDaddy POP mail in the Mac Mail program, after the interim patch to El Capitan that Apple delivered on Nov 6:

Uncheck all 3 in Mac Mail setup: "Automatically detect and maintain account settings;" "Include when automatically checking for new messages;" and "Allow insecure authentication"

Then, log in to your GoDaddy account and change the password(s) on your accounts. Then go back to Mac Mail and reset the passwords there too.

Worked for me! Thanks to Daniel at GoDaddy for the help.
