I called Apple . Got supervisor Carla. She did a conference call with Go Daddy . Had the problem previously with someone else. Godaddy tried to fix by changing pop numbers nothing worked. They then proceeded to change my POP to Imap and it worked immediately all mail was working. I had to pay $44 to go daddy good till 2017. Price will go up. That was my only choice or I would have to use another email service. That was no option for me. Mac email did not work with the pop server after El Capitan update on Mac.

GoDaddy is not quite correct: There are issues on their end, which weren't exposed until Apple delivered a patch to El Capitan on Nov 6. I know it's a GoDaddy issue because my POP accounts at other hosting companies continued to work without a hiccup. However, after a couple of phone calls to GC, I did get it fixed. See my note from yesterday, indicating the 3 switches you have to turn off on your mail settings for that account.

I have the same problem with Mail in godaddy, but I tried with Thunderbird all very good, but with Mail of version Capitan not work app Mail , I am 3 days with this problem.

After some more research, I find the fix.. Uncheck the following 2 boxes and all is working under advanced. Only need that for pop.secureserver.net, not other accounts. They are all fine with that 2 checked, like gmail, hot mail, etc.
1) Automatically detect and maintain account settings
2) include when automatically checking for new messages

Thank you for this fix! Up and running again!

Thank you!! I was unable to access emails for a couple of days. This worked immediately - after countless password changes and resets and port modifications.

Your godaddy email wasn't working so you paid godaddy more money? My solution was to tell godaddy I'd find hosting elsewhere. Then I found this thread and was able to just close the chat window (with the same disgust as I used to angrily hang up phones a million years ago when you could slam them down on a receiver.)

My fix: UNcheck the first two on the Advanced Page ("Automatically detect..." and "Include when...") and make sure "Allow insecure authentication" is UNchecked. Which is the opposite of what godaddy was telling me and they wanted me to change ports and change passwords. While I did change passwords on my emails based off my own hosting, I had an email from someone else's hosting that would have taken more effort to change the password. So I didn't change passwords on it and had no problems. So changing passwords apparently isn't necessary.

Yes, do this both in your mail settings and smtp settings. Two boxes much be unchecked.

Works for GoDaddy workspace email.

I've been having issues since patch. I've tried tied everything here- adjusting ports, rebuilding, and deselecting advanced options.

I also contact GD today and they told me they could help after trying things already posted here.

Any other suggestions?

Arg- somehow it just worked! I double checked passwords and tried eselecting both boxes, quitting, reselecting, quitting, the deselecting again. And it worked.

It was the OSx protocol.

Thanks for the help.

I started having trouble with my Godaddy email not connecting to my mac mail about two weeks ago. I was able to delete the iMap account and create it again in mac mail and it worked fine. Last Wednesday my go daddy email stopped appearing in my mac mail and I have spent hours on the phone with apple trying to fix it to no avail.

This is a HUGE problem. I can get my personal email with my me.com account but I can't get any of my work mail which is my go daddy email - unless I go to the Godaddy sight or recently downloads mobile ap. Not exactly ease of use for someone that travels a lot. Not sure what to do. Will likely keep trying with the Apple customer care line and they are telling me I may have to wipe my hard drive and reinstall. LIkely next step.

@Sdahe,

I am with GoDaddy and came across your post.

Are you still running into this issue? As of this time, we have resolved the email issues we had with our POP and IMAP email plans.

If you are still running into this issue, please let me know, there may be more to the issue you are experiencing and I would be happy to connect with you directly to address the issue.

There definitely is a problem with GoDaddy Workspace POP email and Apple Mail under El Capitan. Note, GoDaddy has three different email services: Workspace, cPanel, and Office 365. Workspace is email only and is the service with the problem here. If your Workspace Apple Mail POP is busted in El Cap and not resolved via the quick fixes described elsewhere in this thread, you need to move IMAP service as Swing2016 did.

Not also, that although Workspace indicates unlimited storage, that is only true in terms of space. There is a cap of 25,000 mails in the Inbox, after that you risk losing mail.

My client learned all this through a simple click of the El Cap button, and then the hard way via the problems that took a week and calls way up the tech support chain to resolve.

Thanks! Step 1 did it for me!

I get the exact same message. I tried deleting and re-installing my POP mail account with GoDaddy and I can't even do that. I get a message that says "unable to verify account name or password" ... it is working on my iphone and it works if I log in to GoDaddy. My OBM installed it on her computer (no update to El Capitan yet) ... HELP!!!

Damn it!! Thank you so much!!
It worked. I am really thankful to you I had to create the account to thank you.

Hello,

Everything was working fine until 2 days ago that Mail cannot connect to Godaddy's email server. I can send emails through the SMTP but can't get any emails in through the POP.SECURESERVER.NET. I called Godaddy but everything is ok in their end... it's something in my computer.

I opened Mail Connection Doctor and this is what I get

mail.jpg

Everything in my settings is correct.. the password and everything but still can't download my emails. Is there any other setting I need to work with?..

Any help would be great!!!
[doublepost=1455824489][/doublepost]All of the sudden today, GoDaddy mail is working again after almost 5 days of non-op. 2 calls to tech support got me nowhere except waisted time attempting to reset passwords, etc. I think they were not forthcoming with the fact that they had a problem. Hate when corp's do that. All part-n'-parcel with corporate insanity...

One fix I found here (#46) and did not try yet although it looked quite plausible.
