So I am not sure if there is something different I can do but I connected a Surface Pro 8 to an Apple ProDisplay XDR and the screen and USB ports work, however, the display is showing as generic monitor and 6 bit. As such it is very banded on colors and not ideal.

The Pro 8 only has the Xe graphics, but I was curious if there was anything I could do to improve this with the Pro 8 attached to the XDR? (not looking for gaming just better colors)

Xe graphics should be able to do 6K60 with DSC.

Maybe installing Boot Camp drivers would help?

You may need to override the EDID if the XDR is giving the GPU a partial or redacted EDID. Use CRU for that.

Let us know which solution you try and if you try anything interesting such as reducing the pixel clock to get more colors or higher resolution.

Thank you and I will review these posts to see if I need to adjust something.

It is showing the resolution but it is showing 6-bit. If I disable the intel graphics and just use the MS default graphics driver the performance tanks but it does show up as 8-bit.

Did you ever get the Surface Pro 8 working with the Pro Display XDR? I had the same problem and returned mine, but if I could get it working with the Pro Display XDR, I’d repurchase it.
