I'm looking for a program that limits my internet use. Like, for example, if I wanted to work straight for an hour, I could turn my internet off and make it so that it's very, very difficult/impossible to turn it back on.

Yes, this is for productivity purposes. I know I could turn off wi-fi or use parental controls, but it simply isn't good enough for me! Any ideas?

Thanks!

I need to work on my new blog, how to get my ex back.

Also need to learn how to be more charming

Technology is a poor substitute for self-discipline.

Thanks, I know...

And usually I don't have a problem getting work done when I am motivated, but I think a lot of people can relate to me that sometimes, motivation's hard to find. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I also need to figure out how I can stop my divorce from happening since I use my computer way too much.

Power your router with a battery. That should limit the amount of time you can spend on the internet.

That's a great idea, although I'm not the only one using my router at home... :(

I know there's a FireFox extension that will limit your internet use but unfortunately there's still Safari/Google Chrome.

My ex girlfriend just recently dumped me and I've been trying hard to find motivation to do stuff. I've been using this article to help me prevent future breakups!

There is an application called SelfControl that can be viewed/downloaded here:

It basically allows you to set up a filter on your Internet usage by letting you create a blacklist of websites that would not be accessible in the time allotted on the timer. For instance, if you added Facebook to the blacklist, once you start the timer you will not be able to access Facebook in any browser until the timer is finished (or you quit the app, essentially making the app useless).

I too tried looking for apps to keep me productive (hence me knowing about that one) years ago, but in all honesty your productivity is up to you. You need make the decision to be productive, and stick to it. No computer software will kick you into gear.
