You just named every iteration of windows 11. Thanks for proving my point that this will bomb like the air pod max.
I use my green APM multiple times a week (especially indoors, whereas outdoors I use AirPods Pro). APM is a great experience.

I also recently saw a millionaire using black APM casually as part of his life, not "for show."

I'm sure many people are using APM.

I have no idea what you're talking about. APM did not "bomb." You need a reality adjustment lol.

How so? It is by far the highest-specced headset.

It’s been in development for years. Reporting suggests that a significant percentage of the dev team felt it wasn’t ready to market. It’s unlikely that Apple would be applying a significant markup to this device when they need to sell as many as possible. It only makes sense that the product as we see it right now is already a stripped down version of their internal hardware alphas and that $3,500 is the LOWEST price they were able to achieve. Therefore the notion that it will get significantly cheaper, like HALF the current price or less? Pure. Fantasy. It won’t happen. Vision Pro will remain a very expensive toy.

Almost all the Macs and iPhones in the last few years have had price increases. None have had price drops.
You are mostly right but there are some exceptions. The M3 MacBook Pro 14" dropped $400 (of course with a much weaker processor), and the Mac Mini dropped $100 with the switch to M1 and another $100 with the switch to M2.

But I wasn't talking about Apple devices getting cheaper over time as much as I was about new products being introduced very high and then dropping one or two generations in. Sometimes by reducing the specs to make the product more accessible, sometimes presumably because of lowered costs on brand new technologies.

Look at the sales numbers. It’s not a hit. That’s great that a few people still use them.

You guys are delirious to think that a $3500 is going to do well.

Similar is not the same as identical. If we're being that vague, every iphone with a home button is "pretty much identical" to the first gen iphone.

Not really. The iPhone 4 was a serious departure for example. The common element in these three is the overall dimensions and the curved back. If the 1.0 iPhone had a single color back plate they’d be even closer.

They could remove the outside-facing screen to start, as it is utterly cosmetic and useless.
Also remove M-series SoC, memory, and battery, and release it as a companion device for Mac users, you could use VisionOS while plugged to a clamshell mode Macbook Air or something like that.
Let's not kid ourselves, "Vision Pro" positions it as top of the line, they chose it fully knowing that the market would interpret it that way.
If they didn't have that intention, $3499 "Apple Vision" would have been received just in the same way.
Anyway I'd be ready for such a product, at something like $1999, I'm sure that it will come as soon as they are able to have enough microLED displays.
Vision Pro as stand-alone product and Vision Air that requires pairing with a Mac or iPad. Great idea

If you can manage it. V3 i'd suggest is a sweet spot
V1 = we need to ship this thing. Yes we've learned along the way things we did not expect but it's too late to fix them now, they will have to wait for version 2.

V2 = Now we can try and add in all the things we learned during the development of version 1. Together will as many of the new things we have learned from customers since launch.

V3 = Great now it's time to polish everything, resolve all the little bugs and issues that came with the big V2 changes, and we now have a good solid product that incorporates all we have learned and is the better all rounded and polished product of them all.

V4 = probably a buggy mess again ;)

I’m gonna wait for the glasses I’ve been waiting 8 years now, a little more waiting ain’t gonna kill me
It won’t. Vision Pro is a beta test. Apple will collect a wealth of real world developer and customer feedback that they couldn’t during development. This will feed into the version 2 which will be superior in the areas that matter most.

Isight is clearly useless and will likely be replaced with a thin led light bar or indication light. That should help lower weight, increase battery life and shrink dimensions.
