I do want the normal driving light to be the HID in the projector.

I have found both these kits and have asked on the HIDPLANET.COM forum.

So which one is a better buy?

DDM 55W SLIM BALLAST HID KIT Versus Prolumen 55w Lighting HID Kit Versus other.

The Prolumen includes:

- Ever Power ballast (2)
- HID Bulbs (2)
- Life-Time Warranty

The DDM Slim Kit includes:

- DDM Digital Slim ballast (2)
- HID Bulbs (2)
- Life-Time Warranty

I want a good product that wont break within a month, has good quality bulbs...

They both say add $5.00 for 3000k why is that? I want the best possible brightness , but with a small tint of blue for a luxury look.

I have had both style of kits, the slimline kit is probably only 35W which does make a difference compared to 55W but are still great. Either will honestly be fine, I only get the cheap kits off ebay from china and haven't had a problem yet!

3000K refers to colour temperature, the higher you go up the scale e.g. 3000, 4300, 6000, 8000, 10000 it goes from a tungsten colour, to white, to blue, then to ultraviolet. The optimal point is between 4300K and 6000K. 6000K has blue tint that gives a very "xenon" look. The 4300K are brighter, with the tiniest tint, but when you look at the lights they are a beautiful pure white with no yellow.

Either 4300K or 6000K will make you very happy. As for the ballasts comes down to 35W vs 55W and if you have enough room to fit normal size ballasts or slimline. The slimline kit I have is very slim.

Thanks for an extra $15.00 you can get 55w ones. I was actually thinking of getting 5000k which is between 4300k and 6000k. Would 5000k be a good idea?

In my opinion 5000K would be perfect, one thing I will say when you are set up and running, make sure your headlights are properly aimed, as we all know what it is like to be blinded by oncoming cars, don't be that guy who causes the accident.

But with projectors you should have proper beam control anyway!

A) If they are 3 - 4x brighter then halogen how do you not get a high beam ticket?

B) How well do HID lights work in snow, and blizzard like conditions, not too much glare?

C) 4300K vs 5000K vs 6000K HID?

Thanks!

A) Sometimes luck, but if you are responsible you get your headlights adjusted afterwards so that they are appropriately aimed, being bright is one thing, and being "high" is another.

B) They work fine, you name in it I've drove in it, not had a problem *touches wood* yet.

C) Colour temperature, as you go higher up the kelvin range the less light output you get. 4300K is the brightest in terms of light output and is pure white with no hint of yellow at all. 6000K is "xenon" look quite an obvious blue tint which only looks good on some cars as it is not that subtle. 5000K would be the ideal compromise between light output and the "look" white with a small tint of blue.

When I speak of light loss, we are not talking huge amounts until you get over 6000K.
