Mobile Me is certainly useful and it's getting more so all the time. I have it, but actually have it set to not renew automatically. I'll think about it closer to time.

I think some people just can't justify the $99/year when many of the features can be duplicated through free services like Google.

I never gave Apple my credit card because I prefer to buy it from Amazon (or the like) for far less than $99.

MobileMe is pretty much useless for anyone that has no use for its features. For those of us that do, it's actually quite useful. In fact, I use it on a daily basis. Imagine that.

Things I like about Mobile Me:

1) Find My iPhone
2) Calendar that is full screen and looks nice and syncs instantly
3) Storage
4) Great picture sharing.

The problem is

1) I don't want to pay just for that feature
2) Google Calendar gets the job if you understand over the air pushing with iCal (and now with iPhone 3.0 you can sync 25 Google Calendars)
3) Many many many websites allow for storage
4) Flickr gets the job done.

So MobileMe is nice if I had the money, but there are many free alternatives.

the whole concept behind it is that it's all in ONE place and INTEGRATES seemlessly with the iphone.

sure you can go to google for calendar, flickr for photo and 'whatever'.com for storage.....but why...and they don't all integrate flawlessly? if you have $99 (or less for some) to spend during a year, just get MM and have all that in ONE PLACE.

seriously people.....$99 a year......stop eating McDonalds for a week and you're cool. plus you get the bonus of being a tad healthier and live longer to enjoy your iphone.

You spend $99/week at McDonalds?!?

I'm not complaining. MM is great for some people...just not everyone. I personally right now don't feel like spending $100 for services when I can get something comparable for free (also that hasn't had half the problems MM has over the last year). That's $100 I can spend on music or movies or a new iPhone or whatever. To each his own....

That said, the new find my iPhone feature is pretty awesome and if it works as well as advertised, that could be 1 reason for me to keep MM.
