I hate pastel colours. Would like to see a return of the older, bolder colours. Or even some of the iPhone Pro colours - a deep red, pacific blue, forest green etc.
That deep dark green they used for the iPhone 11 Pro would be gorgeous on an iMac and Mini.

The "Mac Pro" make zero sense at all.

The Mac Pro 2013 failed because it was an all in one and couldn't be upgraded.

The Mac Pro 2019 is a powerhouse and was built after a hell of a lot of discussion with the actual people that used it including me.

- Huge amounts of Ram slots
- 8 PCIE Slots for Pro editing cards, sound cards, Afterburner,
- Discrete Swappable GPUs - Linkable.

They may well produce a Computer that will be that format but it's not a Mac Pro.

It's a Mac. No Mini, no I, No Pro but a some thing in-between.

Screenless. More powerful than the Mac mini. Probable upgradable in some way. What would be awesome is a changable CPU / Gpu in a box ( it's basically a system on a chip anyway )

And if they don't use the tag line "Return of the Mac" I'd be shocked.

Actually the 2013 Mac Pro was very upgradeable.

1. Users could change memory from 16GB to 128GB
2. Users could change the SSD from 256Gb to 2TB
3. There were actually three choices of video cards which a user could change: 300, 500, and 700 series
4. There were, I think, 5 processor choices and could be changed by a technician.

There are four lightening ports that could support external enclosuers.

The 2018 Mac mini allowed only memory choices for the user to change. The SSD was soldered in so one had to go big from the start. And there was no choice on video cards. The 2020 Mac mini had no user changeability after it was built and the 16GB of ram is inadequate for my server applications as over half of the 64GB in my 2018 mini is cached files for the file server.

The Apple laptops are also pathetic with zero choices after being built. The only expensive saving grace is the ability to connect fast external boxes for drives, video cards or whatever.

I still. remember my $10,000 Apple IIFx that had 8 memory slots and I think six or eight NuBus slots. The only soldered part was the 40 series processor. If one was creative, changes could even be made to the SE30 trash can Mac....

I suspect you'd be hard pressed to find many people here who'd consider being able to swap between the configuration options that were offered at the same time as the product was launched, as meeting a working definition of "upgradable".

If you bought the D700 trashcan, there was no "upgrade" for Graphics.

The point of an "upgrade" is to keep up with generational changes in hardware - eg pull the GTX1080, replace with the RTX2080, then replace with the RTX3080.

eg our typical 2009 Mac Pros, have 2010-12 processors, 2013 wireless, 2018 graphics, etc.

You could never buy the GPUs separately. And that was the crucial mistake of that machine. If they had produced new GPUs to slot in every 2-3 years it would have been awesome.

Yeah they pretty much gave up even trying to upgrade it. Supposedly it was for thermal reasons so I suspect the xeon upgrades were getting hotter? I’m not educated enough to really say for sure. Either way I don’t think there’s an excuse fir it taking Apple 6 years to come out with the replacement. Yeah they could have at least upgraded the graphics options or something you’d think. I’m sure if I had bought one of those in 2013 expecting to upgrade it I would have been irritated when 4 years later there was nothing to upgrade your GPU to.
