Apple is reportedly planning a press release for this Tuesday to announce new iPad and Apple Watch models, according to prolific leaker Jon Prosser.

Prosser explains that Apple has a press release scheduled for Tuesday, September 8 at 9:00 EST, but notes that it is not "locked in" until the day itself. Prosser has also said that he will offer an update if and when one is available.

Prosser has previously said that new Apple Watch and iPad models would arrive via press release in the week of September 7. This alleged Tuesday press release would seem to be for those products.

Although new Apple Watch models would likely be the expected Series 6, Prosser did not state which iPad would be arriving. In recent months there has been some conflation about leaks regarding the low-cost iPad and iPad Air 4. It has also been suggested that updated iPad Pro models may arrive this month, so it is difficult to know exactly which iPad models are expected.

The release of multiple Apple products appears to be imminent. At the end of last month, Apple registered eight Apple Watches and seven iPads in Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) filings, and various leaks such as an alleged instruction manual and design schematics have come to light. Similar EEC filings have preceded the launch of new Apple products on numerous occasions, including multiple ‌‌iPad‌‌, ‌iPad Pro‌, ‌iPhone‌, Mac, ‌Apple Watch‌, and AirPods models.

The EEC filings effectively confirm that new Apple Watches and at least two different models of iPad will be released very soon, so Prosser's claim that a Tuesday press release will see announcements of these products is not unfounded. Prosser has also correctly predicted some of Apple's launch plans in the past.

Update: Mark Gurman believes that the Tuesday announcement may only be for the upcoming iPhone event rather than any new product releases:

A press release by Apple is not locked in? That means he is throwing crap at the wall and giving himself an out when it doesn’t happen.

Exactly my thoughts. That seems to be Prosser's style. Make a bunch of big claims and end it with a "but it's not for sure yet", just so he has an out when it inevitably goes wrong.

If it's really in 2 days, why would it not be locked in yet?

Can't wait for him to tweet "something changed"

I’d be surprised if any iPad Pro models are announced this press release, the current models have only been out 6 months and if they are replaced so quickly a lot of customers will be annoyed that their 1000 pound/dollars/euro tablets are out of date so quickly.

Air/Mini/10.2 I reckon, however if they release with the A14 then that would also be odd as traditionally the iPhones have always debuted the new processors. That being said these are odd times, so we shall see.

As much as I don’t like Prosser (he seems to be narcissistic, and think the world of himself, and can’t take criticism) he has proven to be pretty reliable with rumors. Sure he isn’t 100% accurate, but who is? If he’s wrong, it will damage him further, if he’s correct, then it won’t.

the vitriol you people around here have personally invested in him is absurd. he gives out content leaks, some have been spot on, some haven't.

yet every time he says something, people just cannot resist the temptation to remind everyone how little they think of him.

lmao, why do you people care this much.

here's a leak: apple's going to release products some time in the fall as they have for at least the last decade.

(but if it's not a 120hz display iphone there's nothing to see here)

Good! I don't think there's any particular marketing advantage to announcing the watch and phone on the same date, so if the watch is ready to go now, get it out there!

Apple usually announces the Apple Watch alongside new iPhones. However this year is very different, if they are ready to go I can see them announcing them with a press release and maybe a YouTube video (Similar to the iPad Pro announcement 6 months ago).

I can see the iPad 8 and the iPad Air getting the same treatment. Possibly along with the Airpod studios headphones. That would then leave iPhones, Mac’s, Airtags and anything else for the October event.

This happened back in 2012, with the release of the iPad 3 in March and iPad 4 in November. And out of date? They were released 6 months ago, most improvements are small spec bumps that aren't noticeable in normal situations.

Despite being near their ‘launch date’. I still commend apple for not leaking too much of their upcoming products. It’s not as bad like Samsung who's phones been leaked so heavily that there’s not much hype left for the launch event.
